The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

My big chuckle is that in the Colorado governor’s race the Trump supporting republican has been hammering the democrat for using tax loop holes like his business loosing money to not pay taxes. I keep thinking the the trump quote above that it makes him smart to avoid taxes. The part that makes me sad is it seems to be his most successful angle of attack given the number of commercials all riff on the same theme.

Easy. Through ads bought by PACs. The candidates can stay on the positive “what we’ll do” message.

Is attempting to influence public opinion the BEST way to nail thump for this? Ultimately he doesn’t give a rat’s ass for public opinion and neither to his MAGAbots.

And if the candidates stay on the “what we’ll do” message, what is the CONTENT of that message? What will they, in fact, DO?

I mean seriously, I want someone to use this information about his parents’ money to NAIL THE BASTARD, not just stir up some more liberal finger-wagging that the Pubs ignore, pooh-pooh, and discount.

Or is thump truly as invincible as he believes?

It is not quite accurate that it does not give a rat’s ass about public opinion. It is constantly telling us how much we love it, and it seems to believe that. I am not quite clear as to whether it is itself truly demented or the staff are just feeding it to keep it from eating them.

After reading and listening to various debates about Trump…and Obama…we might as well all save our breath. Politics is just like religion. So, sit tight and have a tender beef bbq because politics is crap.

Religion’s monuments to itself tend to be prettier, though.

That’s certainly how the current administration wants to paint things.
Everyone is partisan and facts are arbitrary. You choose your facts based on whether they support, or appear to be in opposition to, your beliefs.

This is great. I had to quote it.

I can see why presidential politics may seem too remote to have any bearing on the life of a random citizen, but is this your attitude toward all politics, down to your local level?

Hmmm…new user, only 2 posts (so far), and one happens to be this shit sandwich?

Methinks said poster might be familiar with living under bridges.

You have it all wrong. It’s religion that’s a passable imitation of politics.
@**Nava **: I take it you missed the Sacré-Coeur during your last visit in Paris ? Ghastly thing.

The NYT revelations make this seem like an appropriate moment in time for Republicans to…call for abolishing the IRS. Because they’re the real problem.

I mentioned something similar in another thread somewhere about an anti Claire McCaskill ad running in Missouri (the heart of Trump country). They were accusing her of voting for subsidies that her husband’s business took advantage of to rake in millions. And my thought was, isn’t ripping off the government what the current administration is all about?

I can see tax evasion being what ultimately brings Trump down, since it seems no amount of personal failure of himself or his staff or his appointees seems to matter one bit to his supporters.

It would be the stuff of American legend if tax evasion brought down Al Capone but bounced off of Trump. It used to be said that only 2 things were certain- death and taxes. That may have to be amended.

I think you’re right, but exactly HOW will this happen? Who has the authority and the balls to … to WHAT? Arrest him? Demand his tax returns? Is it the IRS. Is there someone at the IRS with the cojones to bust into the Oval Office and slap the cuffs on him?

This tax stuff in the NYTimes seems pretty big to me… and I’d really like someone to spell out who or what agency will use it to “bring him down”? Not sure what I mean by “bring him down.” Arrest him? Remove him from office? Can he be prosecuted for tax fraud while still in office?

I’m up-to-here with metaphors and expressions and euphemisms. Someone throw me/us a bone: precisely how can this information be used and by whom (for real) to rid us of this boil on the ass of the United States?

I haven’t gone inside, as the view from atop the stairs is hella nice but the church itself strikes me as something that despite its size would be likely to give me getmeoutofherephobia. That bad, uh?

Well, it was built between 1875-1914, which sets it firmly in my preferred era of Decadent Romanticism, so I kinda like it. The Byzantine architecture was a strange choice for the time: I would have preferred the prevailing Beaux-Arts or Neo-Baroque style.

And it wasn’t’t consecrated until 1919, so it’s chock-full of nice weepy Great War memorial art, another thing I’m fond of.

My aesthetic sense is eccentric, though. The smart hip contemporary art critics are quick to accuse me of morbid bad taste. YMMV.

Also, the short-fingered vulgarian went FAR beyond the pale last night with his mockery of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

Yeah, he keeps topping himself. Wait…what?
