IIRC, there’s precedent: the committee headed by Dick Cheney which vetted VP candidates for Bush 43 ultimately decided that the best choice was … Dick Cheney. So perhaps Jared and Ivanka could tag-team* the CoS role.

At the moment, Kushner’s options are to stay in the US and hope that he stayed clear of too much of Trump’s financial nonsense to be able to plead that all of his work with foreign powers before January 2017 was just part of being a political agent for someone who seemed to be a genuine, legal candidate for office, or to flee the country with Ivanka and his children, if it looks like that’s not going to fly.
Maybe that’s why he’s keeping it close with MBS. Guest of the Prince/King of Saudi Arabia is probably not a bad way to live out the rest of your days. He’ll just work as the special advisor on American topics.
