It’s probably been discussed before, here on these boards and (surely!) in the media, but I have never understood this belief in the power of a magical wall to stop all illegal immigration and drug trafficking. Let’s say this wall gets completely built to Trump’s satisfaction. How does this wall stop people who go around it, by sea, and enter the US from either coast? How does this wall stop people who go over it, by air, and land anywhere? How does this wall stop people who enter Canada by whatever method, then slip into the US via the northern border? How does this wall stop people who have the proper papers for ‘normal’ entry, whether the papers are genuine or forged? How does this wall defeat greed and bribery and corruption, all human nature, that allows entry because the border guards were persuaded to turn their heads at the right time?
Border security is a mix of things, all acting in concert, and way more complex than the jackass who keeps braying about a stupid wall probably grasps. Probably he has mentioned other factors, but every time I hear him on the subject of immigration, I hear him scream about the wall and nothing else (it seems). I expect it from him, but of all those echoing him…I just don’t get it. I guess, really, there’s nothing to get?
Because the fear of brown people has been so inflamed by our moronic leaders, that the idiots who follow them believe anything they say as long as it results in less brown people coming here.
[puts on proofreader’s hat] ‘If Trump had a cooking show they’d caught the douchebag diet.’ I watched the video after reading this line. Whoever wrote the article wrote ‘caught’, when s/he should have written ‘call it’.
ETA: My friend who pasted the link to the article said, ‘Bitch, I’m a Rock Star. I know a dope fiend when I see one!’ She really is a rock star. She sang with Pink Floyd, and currently has her own tour.
They know this. Most of their followers don’t, but you can bet the politicians pushing for a wall know it will do next to nothing to reduce illegal immigration.
They’ve already hinted at step 2, but here’s what it will be after we have a wall: “The wall cannot be effective under our terrible Democrat immigration laws”.
This will then result in getting rid of VISA’s, ending asylum and refugee programs, and cutting way back on legal immigration. Only then does a wall start to matter.
Never doubt their real goal here is to try to rewind the browning of America. They fear their precious white culture is fading away.
I am really pleased this will be the very first bill sponsored by the new Democratic House in January 2019:

It won’t pass, of course, not with a Republican-majority senate. But Bill H.R. 1 will act as a constant touchstone for Democrats as they whittle away at the cancer of corruption, and force Republicans to repudiate these laudable goals again and again, in public.
This feels like it might be another little gift from Cohen before he goes away:
Possible self-dealing between the Inauguration Committee and the Trump Organization. Given Trump’s history of self-dealing, I would expect this one to prove out.
