Kobal2:
Yeah, but passwords can be forgotten. That’s why you should carry an umbrella into battle - only an Englishman would be that daft.
That wasn’t just a cute A Bridge Too Far thing, BTW - the historical character *did *carry an umbrella around for precisely that reason. Oh, and he also got a kill with it when he jammed it into an armored car’s viewing port and spiked the driver’s head.
That dude was a complete bad-ass. I would watch a movie about him, but only if Marvel produces it.

I do. It’s the link wot I put in the post, see ?
EDIT : here’s the cite for the cite :
http://www.pegasusarchive.org/arnhem/tatham_warter.htm:
During the heavy fighting that followed, Digby could often be seen calmly strolling about the defences, seemingly oblivious to the constant threat of mortar barrages and sniper fire. Choosing to wear his red beret in place of a helmet and swinging his trademark umbrella as he went, Tatham-Warter, no matter how desperate the situation became, never failed in his ability to remain unconcerned and to encourage those around him. Even old hands like Major Freddie Gough became disheartened when Mark IV Tanks crossed the Bridge and the battle seemed lost, but his gloom lifted instantly when he caught sight of Digby leading a bayonet charge against German infantry who had dared to enter British territory; carrying a pistol in one hand, madly swinging his umbrella about his head with the other, and now sporting a bowler hat on his head - which he had obtained from God knows where - doing his best to look like Charlie Chaplin. On another occasion he used the rolled up umbrella to in-effect disable a German armoured car, simply by thrusting it through an observation slit in the vehicle and incapacitating the driver.
Wow.
Thanks, Kobal2. Market Garden was a disaster, I’m glad he made it back.
I have a notion that Chump is feeling the walls closing in on him.

Trump takes over the National Independence Day celebration.
President Trump has effectively taken charge of the nation’s premier Fourth of July celebration in Washington, moving the gargantuan fireworks display from its usual spot on the Mall to be closer to the Potomac River and making tentative plans to address the nation from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, according to top administration officials.
The president’s starring role has the potential to turn what has long been a nonpartisan celebration of the nation’s founding into another version of a Trump campaign rally. Officials said it is unclear how much the changes may cost, but the plans have already raised alarms among city officials and some lawmakers about the potential impact of such major alterations to a time-honored and well-organized summer tradition.
Nothing is sacred to this man. Nothing.
The celebration will be called "A Salute to [del]Trump[/del]America”.

I don’t know about that he feels the walls are closing in just yet, but it’s very clear that he’s fighting for his survival and there’s a sense of urgency. And that makes him dangerous.

And there is a recognized opposition leader to support, always a plus.
It would also show the Deplorables he’s fighting socialism, right in time for the campaign.
That would make Uncle Vladimir very angry.
Giuliani now says he won’t make Ukraine trip, just hours after dyeing his hair . At least he didn’t use spray-on hair .
Trump says it would be “appropriate ” for him to discuss investigating his future political opponents with the Attorney General.
More like a Milo Minderbender business. Or maybe a Trump business which is like M&M Enterprises – it’s hard to tell.

Some people thought it was entertainment when he told Hillary Clinton “You’d be in jail” but it was a dark moment in American politics, because in a stable, functional democratic republic, it’s understood you just don’t go there. But by going there, Trump made it very clear he had the capacity to use the DoJ for political purposes, and this country voted for it. So that’s a problem - a big one. When an authoritarian tells you what he’s going to do, listen. He means it.

That doesn’t mean they’re done trying to coordinate with the Ukrainian-Russian access to go after Joe Biden. They absolutely WILL go after him, and they will have outside help doing it.
Nitpick: Milo Minderbinder
Pillows stuffed with chocolate-covered Egyptian cotton.
Republicans are all about lying, eh.
A real mental giant is our Rudy.
“Rudy Giuliani thinks his own plan to travel to Ukraine was a ‘set-up’”
…The lawyer [Giuliani] decided to forego the journey, however, citing an “unspecified political trap” designed by Trump’s political enemies. “I think this was a set-up,” Giuliani told Fox News, which is somewhat ironic since Giuliani drew up the plan to go in the first place. Still, he maintains there was nothing illegal or immoral about his initial plan.
It’s those [del]damn[/del] Dem voices inside his head makin’ him do shit. :dubious:
