Ooooo… <makes popcorn>
I have a very unfair judge (Obama’s pick) working with the 18 Angry Democrats to throw the election and trying to stop MAGA 2020. Dems don’t care about the REAL COLLUSION!!!
Aw fuck it, I’m not smapti
On a more serious note, I think the consequence of this ruling will be more pressure from Trump’s personally trained rottweiler, I mean, Attorney General. I smell something fishy about Barr’s connections with Russia and something tells me he’s just as deep in the Russian quicksand as Trump and Kushner. I think Trump is going to start using the DoJ to start going after his enemies. It’ll be interesting to see whether people in the FBI and federal prosecutors’ offices carry out his orders or refuse and get fired/resign. It’s coming to that.
Will also be interested to see if Don McGahn complies with the House requests for testimony, and what the DoJ does if he does.
Probably a stay by an Appeals judge by midnight…
Kris Kobach made some completely reasonable and not at all completely insane demands to grace the job of immigration czar with his presence:
- Office in the West Wing.
- Walk-in privileges with the president.
- Assistant to the President rank - at highest pay level for WH senior staff.
- Staff of 7 people (2 attorneys, 2 research analysts, 1 scheduler, 1 media person, 1 assistant).
- POTUS sits down individually with Czar and the secretaries of Homeland Security, Defense, Justice, Ag, Interior, and Commerce, and tells each of the Secretaries to follow the directives of the Czar without delay, subject to appeal to the President in cases of disagreement.
- 24/7 access to either a DHS or DOD jet. Czar must be on the border every week.
- Ability to spend weekends in KS with family on way from border back to DC, unless POTUS needs Czar elsewhere.
- Security detail if deemed necessary after security review.
- Serve as the face of Trump immigration policy - the principal spokesman on television and in the media.
- Promise that by November 1, 2019, the president will nominate Kris Kobach to be DHS Secretary, unless Kobach wishes to continue in Czar position.
Many have called on House Democrats to order U.S. Marshals to bring McGahn in, should McGahn refuse to comply with the subpoena requesting his testimony.
But of course Barr is in charge of the U.S. Marshal Service.
Yeah, a ‘Czar’ who is not Senate confirmed gets to tell Cabinet Secretaries what to do…
“Wo, Dems will stop at nothing for a do-over of the very conflicted Mueller witch hoax, which proved conclusively that there is no O! Now they have an Obama judge making bad rulings against Trump. Mitch and Senate Republicans must fix!”
<bows to the master>
Nope. I missed that both parties agreed to a 7 day stay to follow Mehta’s ruling.
nah - ‘distract with rants’
He’ll probably settle on 57.
As Vox puts it, we now have a new rally cry v2.0: “Lock them up!”
Trump’s troubling response to “lock them up!” chants during his Pennsylvania rally
The chants were disturbing. Trump’s response to them was even worse.
Donald Trump, always the victim for some reason(s). Can’t imagine what those reasons could be…
Obviously, this is a man with nothing to hide. And if you go looking for that nothing, you’re committing treason.
A number of Democrat committee members are now calling for an impeachment inquiry to begin, including:
Rep. Jackie Speier, House Intel Committee
Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Committee
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Committee on Oversight and Reform
Rep. Jamie Raskin, Judiciary and Oversight Committees
Rep. David Cicilline, House Judiciary Committee
Why? The Republicans won’t vote to convict if he is impeached.
He will declare victory from the highest.
Fine. Make them own it.
- He’s been impeached by the house and here’s why. Now you guys explain why he shouldn’t be -
If the Senate vote were today, no. But remember that it took months of hearings, and then the “smoking gun” tape, for the tide to turn against Nixon.
If the electoral tide turns (more strongly) against Trump too, the party will do the expedient thing, as always.
An impeachment inquiry would strengthen Congress’ hand when trying to get access to sensitive documents and testimony, as they can point to them being needed for an ongoing legal matter.
The White House is stonewalling on all oversight investigation, so things are at an impasse and Congress cannot perform their constitutional oversight role. An impeachment inquiry would be the logical next step.
There’s also the fact that the contents of the Mueller report provides the grounds for impeachment of Trump, and many think that not impeaching would set a bad precedent for the future of the United States and its presidents. Just because the Republican Party is institutionally corrupt, and will acquit Trump in the Senate, doesn’t mean the Democrats shouldn’t do the right thing.
Combined with his plans to pardon accused war criminals, this is particularly disturbing. He and his sycophantic fans think he’s the fount of justice, that the law is whatever he wills it to be, like a pre-Enlightenment monarch.
[Flash of brilliance]Trump is Henry VIII! Mood swings becoming policy! Sparing or condemning people around him at will! Expecting utter loyalty but giving none in return! Being overweight and eating unhealthily but pretending he’s healthy as a horse. He hasn’t beheaded any wives yet, though. :p[/FoB]
So? When does honor require the consent of the dishonorable?
