One of the photos of Individual 1 from the Dayton hospital visit is of him and Melania with a ten year old girl. And everybody is wondering if she was a shooting victim from a bar at 2 AM.
Well, seeing the sick and afflicted was the stated purpose of this, so can’t give him hell for going above and beyond, regardless of how/why it happened. At least the kid now has a story!
Stealing.
What story? Did he walk into her dressing room while she was changing clothes?
She has the best good news/bad news joke of her life, right?
I’ve got some bad news.
What?
You’re going to the hospital, kid.
No way!
But there’s good news!
What?
You get to meet The President!
Wow!
But there’s bad news…
What?
It’s Donald Trump.
Shit.
But there’s good news!
How?
Melania’s going to be there!
Is she going to ask him for a divorce in front of me?
Uh… no. Why would you ask that?
Then how is that good news!?
… and on and on and on.
Yes, inappropriate in the extreme. But then again, we’re talking about Donald Motherfucking Trump.
I can sure understand what you’re talking about, having encountered those posters as well.
In fact one who currently advocates protest marches as an effective tool once jeered and berated me at length for my own efforts on that front, and even questioned if I actually participated in them. Pretty rude. I suppose I should be mollified that at least he appears to now have a better understanding of protest march as an effective tool in a time when we have very few such tools at our disposal.
I’m looking for something of this magnitude-- Yeltsin in 1991– the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Or the The 1967 anti-Vietnam war protest in Washington, D.C. that 100,000 marchers attended.
Five other historic marches in/on Washington.
These things have an impact on the present and the future.
They do. As you’ve previously mentioned, Hong Kong right now. Russia, also. Putin is really struggling to maintain his power at home.
Same reason people argue against voting. They don’t see that their individual act is what makes a difference, and so cannot accept that a whole bunch of people, working together, makes a difference in more than just quantity of individual acts. A little bit selfish, and a lot bit shortsighted.
Personally, all the protest local marches I’ve been to have been tiny ones, with a few dozen people at most. Being one of the dozen that bothered to show up actually makes me happy that I was able to turn out.
The only big “protest” I’ve been to was the Stewart/Colbert rally to restore sanity, and, while it had much better guests and music, to be sure, I think I like my small local protests more.
How much good does it do to stand outside of Candice Keller’s offices and call her names? Maybe not all that much. But it was on the news (I think, there were news cameras there, but I never watched it), and there are people who saw us and saw the news and know what a vile creature she is that would not have known otherwise.
Good onya, k9bfriender.
The ones I’ve joined usually have decent attendance, at least 100 but more often 250 - 600 people. I try to pull together a few friends but have gone on my own as often as not. People are busy, or they work hours that make attendance difficult.
The one for Robert Mueller was well attended, as were the ones around family separation at the border.
I like them, too, though my work schedule hasn’t allowed me to attend all.
The only thing that makes me sad is ours are mostly populated by we old fogies who have participated in protest marches in our distant pasts. Very few young people come out.
If my athletes feet ever comes back, I’ll be sure to buy a pair.
Huh, that’s the opposite of around here. Here we have a geriatric and aging population of hard right republicans, with a younger generation that is promoting progressive causes. To be fair, most of them end up being organized on the backs of drug legalization, or at least, that’s where the groups usually end up coalescing, then they get the bright idea to go and assemble in support of other things.
Call me old-fashioned, but I think it’s plain old pardon-dangling to any of his cronies. “Do whatever. I have no compunctions about pardoning you.”
Kushner supposedly thinks it’ll win favor from Dems, showing how incredibly unqualified he is for his role.
Really? That guy is still saying things? I thought somebody put him in a hall closet, locked the door and told everyone he was in the middle east negotiating peace.
Career CIA official leaves after being passed over for promotion. She probably knows that this president doesn’t care about foreign intelligence, but is instead more interested in collecting dirty on his enemies.
Never in the post-WWII era has America’s intelligence gathering apparatus been in such great danger of disintegrating and at risk of being penetrated by foreign powers.
I’m wondering: given that Ttump seems to think that the world is all about the ratings, does he think “acting jobs” pay scale?
He doesn’t pay for anything so he probably doesn’t think “acting jobs” pay scale or actually think beyond the last shiny soundbite or whomever talked to him last.
(what!! no strikethrough BBcode? uggh) (Maybe I should post more to see what else I have not used in years but isn’t on this board.)
There is. It’s del, not s (or strike). [del]See?[/del].
Ahh! I checked on the FAQ and didn’t (really) see it. Del I thought meant delete… not intuitive. I should have clicked it after scanning the list.
Thank you!
