And it doesn’t actually matter if he really “wins” or not, he’ll just say he did and give himself a trophy.
By most accounts he’s lost more in the private sector than he’s gained, and he is doing it now with our country.
It’s like gambling addiction. You get a big win from time to time, and that more than justifies the small (and big) losses, even if it doesn’t actually compensate for them.
He’s a loser at business. Every business he’s touched has died. He has made money by working for a TV network as a reality TV host, he’s gotten people to pay him royalties for the use of his name, and of course he skims a bit off the top from the Russian, human trafficking, and terrorist money laundering he allegedly runs.
His only successes are when he can bully someone smaller, when he can lean on and intimidate them into submission. That’s how he gets out of paying contractors other small businesses that he does business with. And that’s a win.
When he can’t bully, he tantrums, and less out of pity and more that he’s incessantly annoying, they buy him his damn lunch box and then fuck his mother. He calls that a win.
I don’t know if you stroked out while writing that, or I had an aneurysm reading it, but at least one of us could probably get a prescription for it now.
I dunno, I banking on it being with less style. I just don’t see him inspire the same levels of loyalty and hate as Trump does. I could be wrong, but when you know the devil you know is going to kill you, then the devil you don’t know is worth a shot.

We’re not going to get to handmaiden’s tale with a generous dozen months left in a Pence term. We may have far more immediate and long lasting consequences in that time left by a senile bully with delusions of competency.
Successfully using impeachment or the 25th would mean that public sentiment had gone pretty strongly against Trump, and what’s left of the base would disapprove of Pence for collaborating with the govt that performed a coup on their chosen one.
My only objection to removing Trump is the practicality of it. That’s a hard thing to do, and for good reason. We shouldn’t be removing presidents just because they are unpopular, but though there will always be true believers, with every breakdown of sanity that Trump throws into the public, some are becoming more and more aware that this is not a person who should be in this job.
The deplorables will form a couple of cults and compounds, realize that it sucks and slink their way back into society.
Is there any chance that this trade war could eventually benefit the US and cause China to make some concessions? I don’t know anything about economics, but I’ve read that it is hurting China. Is there an historical precendent for this working? The only thing I know historically about tarrifs were Hoover’s after the crash, which were a disaster and made things much worse.
If it could work, how long might it take and how much would it hurt the US consumer?
If it can’t work, what should we should we doing about the trade imbalance with China?
No, not at all. I’m not saying that he doesn’t hate minorities and treat them with contempt, I’m just saying that he hates everyone and treats everyone with contempt. That minorities are an easy target for him to lash out at is convenient, and reflexive.
I’m not defending him, and I’m not saying that he does not do racist things. I am saying that he worse than a racist. A racist at least looks out “for his own”, Trump looks out for no one but himself. If enabling racists gives him an advantage, he will enable racists. If for some reason enabling racists actually did not reward him, and by reward, I do not mean that it works out in the net positive as any attention is a reward unto itself, then he would object to it. But, he gets rewarded for doing racist things, so he continues doing them.
