The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

I for one am proud of our President warning everyone of the potential devastation Hurricane Dorian could wreak on the citizens of Bowling Green.

Coulda been a massacre!

Excellent post. I’ve long thought that Republican politics is stuck in a kind of feedback loop. Their voters are angry, they vote for a candidate who validates that anger, but no matter how many elections they win or how many policies they enact, the voters just get angrier.

They won’t actively distance themselves from Trump, they’ll just ignore him. He’ll be mad to not be the center of attention anymore, but there won’t be any direct slights or attacks for him to focus his anger on and punch back against.

Why would they distance themselves from Trump? According to them, he’s doing a great job! Seriously, his approval rating among Republicans is something like 90%? It’s actually higher than Obama’s approval rating among Democrats. Why would they ignore, or distance, or otherwise pretend not to like him? They love him!

This is rather horrifying to contemplate, honestly.

“He wasn’t as crazy as the Fake News tried to convince us! Besides, Socialism!”

Stephen Pastis summed it up in his Pearls Before Swine comic. “One day some people took their states and went home. We shot them.”

Oh yeah, of course. Look at it like this: During the Republican primary last time around Trump shat all over the standard bearer Republican icons, and Trump was immediately, emphatically embraced by the rest of them when he won that round. Imagine if a Democrat shat on John McCain the way Trump did. As quickly as they embraced him (look at the way they defend him, still) they will drop him like a hot potato.

The Pubbies will tap-dance however they need to when the current so-called president is just an oil stain on the tarmac of history.

But they will NEVERNEVERNEVER forget Hillary and HER EMAILS! Likewise the foreign-born, tan-suited fake uppity Muslim darkie called Obama. Some things must never be forgotten.

Some Trump supporters actually blame Obama for 9/11. As one Trump fan notes in this video (around 3:30 mark), Obama wasn’t even in the Oval Office during 9/11. When asked why he thought Obama wasn’t in the Oval Office, the supporter says it’s because Obama was always on vacation and never at work (probably playing golf).

The ignorance is stupefying:

You guys are all naysayers. Of COURSE Donald has more knowledge about hurricanes than the Weather Service. After all, he slept with a woman named Stormy, didn’t he?

wow. amazing. In a very bad way… :smack:

Reported.

Not for the foreign language, but for missing the accent in frère. :stuck_out_tongue:

It will all be gerrymandered to come out of Democratic districts. Chuck Schumer has already been informed a chunk of the money is coming out of the construction budget for the US Military Academy at West Point, which is in Schumer's district.

Exactly my reaction when I saw **ThelmaLou**'s post. These people have no shame whatsoever.

... "There are good people on both sides".
... he was in fact talking about those who thought the Confederate statues should be torn down vs. those who thought they should stay. Yes, Trump is the personification of a clusterfuck, but I for one hate being lied to about shit like this. This is clearly not what Trump meant ....

I understand your point, and agree with the underlying sentiment. HOWEVER the Orange Racist could have *unambiguously* made the point you think he intended, if he chose to do so. INSTEAD he made a deliberate and ugly dog-whistle to appeal to racists. Capische?

I think you’re joking, but it’s about come to that. Remember a year ago when he walked up the stairs of Airforce One with a long strip of toilet paper stuck to his shoe? Were his aides all too afraid to point it out? Or were they all laughing too hard?

I went to his Twitter page about this and almost all of the responses are anti-Trump, so I clicked on a few more pages and it's the same thing. How would this compare to other Twitter feeds, wouldn't most followers of someone support them? How many negatives would there usually be? IOW is this another indication of how unpopular he is?

It's true that Twitter isn't where physicists discuss new ideas about quantum gravity, but it does appeal to a more intellectual crowd than the Yahoo and Facebook blogs. Some Trumpists might know how to read tweets, but few could write one without help from a 9-year old kid or from a Democrat.

38%. Believe it or don’t, at least 38% of Americans will vote for this subhuman in 14 months. Historians fifty years from now — if there even are historians and books in the coming dystopia — will marvel that he was ever elected.

The Irish press is furious at Mike Pence. One said his visit was like inviting somebody over for dinner and they shit on your carpet. Why? Because Pence called on Ireland to negotiate with the UK over borders when the UK unilaterally pulls out of the EU.

The Secretary of Defense says our allies need to pony up money to pay for the US military projects that won’t be funded because Individual 1 took money to pay for WALL.

Is Mexico counted as an ally or a mere trading partner? Because this could be the genius stroke that enables Mexico to pay for the wall!

Maybe we could just buy Mexico and make them the [del]49th[/del] 50th state? And demote Hawaii to a non-state, thus rendering Obama’s citizenship and his whole presidency null & void-- win-win!

Iceland is full of LGBTQ flag rainbow flags to welcome Pence to the country.

This seems a little banana republic-y.

Maybe they are in violation of antitrust laws, but it seems interesting that they were not being investigated for it until they hurt baby Twumpy’s feewings.

I hope they cannot actually be punished simply for proceeding with California’s (and world markets also) stricter air pollution requirements. It only makes business sense to make all their cars with the same parameters, especially since they seem to feel this is the direction to go - better gas mileage, less pollution, etc.

Good ol’ Mr. Prez still doesn’t understand how the adult world works. Now that he’s getting soundly mocked on his favorite place (Twitter), he ordered a Coast Guard admiral to lie to the public:

More–much more–at the link. The best is the quote from Tan the Conman using terms such as “LameStream Media”. Those who use such terms are, IMHO & IME, your credulous conspiracy nutjobs and are quite allergic to facts.

Y’all remember Sleeper? I wonder how the scene talking about the presidents would’ve gone had it been made today. Allen would not have to write fiction to make Miles Monroe’s commentary on our day sound ridiculous.

I don’t have the link to the particular story I first saw, but Trump couldn’t help talking about himself when he awarded Jerry West the Medal of Freedom. West is from West Virginia and Trump had to start talking about how big he won there and then implied if WV hadn’t gone for him, West may not be getting the Medal.

Another link to the story:

Trump jokes he gave Medal of Freedom to NBA great Jerry West because the former player’s home state voted for him

What a child.

I was wondering what Jerry West did to deserve a medal (I’m sure he’s a decent human being, but…seriously?) This is as good a reason as any, in TrumpWorld.

Donnie: if you’re thinking “I probably should’t say this”…don’t say it.
(Aw, fuckit. Why would he start acting like a grownup now?)
