This foreign leader promise has the potential to be a scandal with legs. I hope the whistleblower meets Bob Woodward in a parking garage and gives him a transcript. It’s more than likely Putin, and I bet it was on the order of “get me re-elected and I’ll pull the US out of NATO”. This would allow him to skate any prosecution due to statutes of limitations. He knows he needs to get re-elected to avoid prison and he knows he can’t do it without massive help from the Russians.

I think first and foremost is that he hates the same people that they do. Blacks, Hispanics, LGBTQ, Muslims, etc.
Second is that they live in an alternate reality, where Democrats are seen as the un-American other. Let THAT Sink In!” So who cares if Donald betrays the US, the Democrats don’t genuflect before the flag and wasted billions trying to get healthcare to those who don’t look or pray like real Americans.

It’s a classic con where the conman convinces his target that the two of them are working together to con somebody else. It works because it takes the things that would normally make the target suspicious and turns them into assets. The conman doesn’t have to convince the target that he’s trustworthy because the target wants him to be a con man.
