So who are you supporting in the election?
I’m guessing not Trudeau.
I’m Canadian, so I won’t be voting in your election. But my honest opinion as of today would be that if the Democrats nominated Buttigieg, Biden, Klobuchar or Gabbard I would likely vote for the Democrats. But I’d have to see what they campaign on after getting the nomination.
If the nominee were Warren or Sanders, I would vote for whoever was the best chance to stop them. In that case, I would hold my nose and vote Trump, because both Sanders and Warren are hard leftists with policy proposals that would do immense damage to the economy and to civil society. Even re-electing Trump would be worth it if it kept either of those two demagogues from power.
I’d vote for Trudeau for U.N. Secretary General! Because that would at least get him out of Canada.
TLDR version:
-
It’s not the fault of Trump voters; the mean words that lefties said MADE them vote for him.
-
They all do it anyway - both sides are exactly the same
-
Trump voters are just misled; Democrats are corrupt assholes
-
Democrats are Marxists, and evil.
BONUS:
- Trudeau is a poopyhead and nobody likes him.
Nope. Until you back the fuck away from your “good people on both sides” Neonazi bullshit, nobody should give a shit what you say.
:dubious: I’m no fan of Bill Clinton’s misconduct with women, but it’s ridiculous to pretend that Republicans ignoring and excusing Trump’s across-the-board massive unfitness for his office is comparable to Democrats ignoring and excusing the private sexual behavior of Clinton as a generally competent, engaged and hard-working Chief Exec.
Even the four allegations of non-consensual acts by Clinton, which I take very seriously, are extremely minor compared to the overall misgovernance of the Trump administration.
Pfft. Our last round of “immense damage to the economy and to civil society”, aka the Great Recession, was launched by your Republican golden boy GW Bush, and Trump’s idiotic and venal policies appear headed in the same direction. I’d rather have an intelligent and honest socialist as President than a crooked and moronic capitalist.
Republicans take the country on spending sprees and run up debt with irresponsible tax cuts, leaving subsequent Democratic governments to try to get the fiscal mess under control. Republicans and Republican-fanboys like Sam Stone may be still trying to trade on their exploded earlier reputations as prudent fiscal conservatives, but nobody else is buying their snake oil anymore.
Presumably (hopefully) there will be enough US officers who remain loyal to the Constitution and prevent any such move.
So, two possibilities:
- Trump tries it and fails but then goes out leaving ‘Americans a score to settle with the Red Dems’.
- Trump tries it and succeeds
In either case, not a pretty future for US and its politics.
The American people of the second half of the 20th century, nurtured on tales of an inevitable victory of freedom after WWII, comforted by the elimination of polio (with a cure for cancer coming), thrilled and inspired by putting a man on the Moon, and seeing vindication writ large across the globe after winning the Cold War, meant the future would surely remain one of progress and freedom, ad infinitum. Whoops.
This time, the times they really are a changing.

I’m Canadian, … I would hold my nose and vote Trump, …
You’re also a fucking idiot.
I saw a screenshot at another site that was from a different site. Reddit maybe? Anyway, I screen shotted it and put it in my desktop slideshow because it really seemed to sum it up for me and rang true to what I experience with the (many) Trumpies in my life. Rather than link to my screen shot, I’m just typing it out.
Nimble Navigator: I think what most liberals are missing is that this isn’t about right and wrong, it’s about winning and losing. I’ve attached my entire worldview to this man and I am going down with the ship. Not one of you is going to convince me otherwise.
Trump Supporter: Can we close this sub now? This man has finally said what everyone has been dancing around for years. Every question can all be answered by this simple mindset. Every. Single. Question.

. Democrats do the same damned thing, which is why feminists were either silent or supportive of Clinton while he was in power, despite the numerous allegations of sexual misconduct against him. As one prominent feminist at the time said, “I’ll give him a blowjob myself if he keeps working for women’s rights.” .
No, you are equating getting a consensual blowjob with locking up brown people. It’s not the same. It’s not ‘both sides have good people’.

Presumably (hopefully) there will be enough US officers who remain loyal to the Constitution and prevent any such move.

That’s right, but of course the reply is often “It can’t happen here.” (An amazing number of people are still clinging to that one.)

Would it be possible to dig up John Diefenbaker, brush him off, and re-elect him?

Just as residents of the big blue cities keep voting in corrupt assholes who declare themselves to be the champions of the poor while lining the pockets of themselves and their cronies.
And it doesn’t help that the current front-runner for the Democrats is an old lunatic Marxist/socialist who never met an oppressive left-wing regime he wouldn’t carry water for.
In addition to all the other problems with your post (I won’t repeat what others have said), I like that you have these two sentences right after each other with zero self-awareness.
The whole point of Sanders and Warren’s popularity (and even the surge of Yang) is that they are pledging to remove the kind of campaign contributions that corrupt the US system right now (and are not just saying that; they are refusing those kinds of donor), and have increased social welfare provision. Not to make the US a socialist country, but just more in line with social provisions in the rest of the developed world.
But for you…you hate corporate democrats, and progressive democrats, and think democrat voters are sheep for choosing…one of two very different ideologies, including one largely novel to US politics. Got it.

It’s kind of pointless to attack Trump voters by showing how stupid, or crass, or otherwise obnoxious he is, because most Trump voters did not vote for him because of his positive qualities - they voted for him tribally. Eight years of being called deplorable, mocked for ‘clinging to their god and guns’ and other culture clashes have convinced large swaths of Trump voters that it’s ‘us or them’. Hillary not even bothering to campaign in some of those states made that worse.
i’m anti-Trump, and I have tried to convince conservatives that he’s bad news. What you inevitably find is that they already know about his failings, and don’t care so long as he is the leader of the tribe. Democrats do the same damned thing, which is why feminists were either silent or supportive of Clinton while he was in power, despite the numerous allegations of sexual misconduct against him. As one prominent feminist at the time said, “I’ll give him a blowjob myself if he keeps working for women’s rights.”
So long as Trump keeps acting like the best friend the blue collar working class and fundamentalists ever had, and keeps telling them that they are the true heroes and backbone of America, they are going to keep voting for him, Just as residents of the big blue cities keep voting in corrupt assholes who declare themselves to be the champions of the poor while lining the pockets of themselves and their cronies.

After years of Trump fucking over workers and small businesses, anybody who believes him now has earned being called a goddamned moron. If ONLY there was an electronic medium containing all human knowledge on which one could verify facts! Oh, wait, you don’t LIKE those facts? So you’re going to invent paranoid bullshit conspiracies so you don’t have to admit you got took by a con man? And that allows you to cast aside all decency and humanity to behave as badly as you want?
Yeah, there’s a really easy way not to get called a lying shit smear of an evolutionary cul-de-sac whose entire existence is proof that thwarting natural selection is bad. Don’t vote for Trump. Don’t rationalize voting for him.
Stop fucking whining about it.

After years of Trump fucking over workers and small businesses, anybody who believes him now has earned being called a goddamned moron.
One interesting aspect of the Trump presidency is that it’s not too unlikely that we’re going to see a bunch of economic and social indicators jerk into a new position (for the worse) after he leaves office.
Dude marked up a map of Florida in order to not look stupid. While there certainly have been some unflattering numbers to come out of the Federal government under this administration, it’s not unlikely that there were a bunch which were successfully pressured into using dishonest math.

Do you know why she said that? And why you look like a fucking tool for bringing it up? Lemme help you out:
I said it (back in 1998, but a good quote has eternal life) because I thought it was high time for someone to tweak the white, middle-aged beltway gang taking Clinton to task for sexual harassment. These men had neither the personal experience nor the credentials to know sexual harassment when they saw it, nor to give a good goddamn about it if they did. The insidious use of sexual harassment laws to bring down a president for his pro-female politics was the context in which I spoke.

Today Trump unveiled the logo for the Space Force. He said it was the “Sixth Branch” of the military (even though the logo says it’s a department of the Air Force). Also, the logo looks kinda familiar. I can’t quite put my finger on it… https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1220821545746141187
The Navy and the Marine Corps are separate branches, but both are in the Department of the Navy. The actual concern is this newest branch is a complete waste.
Musing…how is trump going to make Kobe Bryant’s death about himself?
