Living IN interesting times is one thing.
I’m interested in living THROUGH the interesting times and getting back to enjoying the boring times again.

I’m with you. I far, far prefer boring.
As (I think), Bilbo Baggins once said, an adventure is something dreadfully uncomfortable happening to someone else, a long way away.
Not that I’d wish this on anyone, no matter how far away they are.
No, I take that back. There’s a few hundred people I’d smile if I heard they’d caught it. And I really dislike the fact that I’ve become the sort of person who’d do so.
As usual Trump is not thinking beyond tomorrow’s polls. If these states open up too quickly and cases spike up, first of all an equal number of Democratic and Republican voters will get it. And everyone will see that the governors were right and Trump was wrong. I certainly hope so.
Trump continues to believe that an improving economy is more important to voters than 10s of thousands of dead people. But no matter when states open up, we are not going to have “the greastest economy in the history of the world” anytime in the near future
And there is no doubt that when the trend of new infections starts to go down in those MAGA states, they will immediately declare victory and start going back to church and and grocery stores without wearing masks. Just like these idiot protestors in Michigan. One was quoted on CNN. “I think we are all going to get COVID, we’re stading right next to each other.” Wear a fucking mask you fucking fuck!
"The test of an adventure is that when you’re in the middle of it, you say to yourself, ‘Oh, now I’ve got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home.’ "
– Thornton Wilder, The Matchmaker
Although with this current situation, we are siting quietly at home anyway.
From your link:
Is anyone actually surprised that the damn dirty lying sack of dung lied yet again? Oops. I used the wrong adverb. Is anyone actually surprised that the dman dirty lyinng sack of dung (choose one: still/always) lies?
More fun is in following the twitter links in that article. I especially liked this one from Bishop Talbert Swan of the Church Of God In Christ:
Of course not. The whole reason I posted that is to once again show how uninformed and uncaring about that fact he is. I have a problem with the leader of the free world being that ignorant. I also have a problem with a significant portion of our population being just fine with it. This is not okay and I will never get over knowing that so many people in this country think it is.
'Twas a rhetorical question, romansperson.
Yes, but also not necessary and taking away from the actual point of my post. Though I suppose both the lying and the astounding ignorance no longer need to be pointed out … it’s just a fact in all our lives now.
Not that it amounts to a hill of beans in this crazy world, but would anyone care to explain to me why Trump’s “LIBERATE…” Tweets could not be interpreted as incitement to riot?
Of course they are.
Who is going to hold him to account?
I would pay cash if any Governor would say to Trump, “Hey Trump. Shut the fuck up and let the adults in the country run things.”
I always liked “Lead, follow, or get out of the way.” Trump is doing none of those things.
It has been since 1968. It just took until 2013 for the sociopaths to complete their purge.
You’re using the wrong noun, too.
Also, no. Nobody is surprised.
“SHIT.” the right noun is “shit.”
Indeed. I think ge’s going more for “Bluster, whine, or defecate all over everything.”
Could one argue Goldwater’s '64 attempt?
I was eight years old in 1964, but maybe.
Goldwater at least had ethics. He would have been preferable to most Republican presidents since then.
Or? All evidence points to and being correct.
<sigh>
Agreed.
