I guess even the Trump campaign realized it was a bad idea to point out the need for change in a year when you’re running for re-election.

On the nuclear pronunciation, Dictionary.com seems to agree both pronunciations are acceptable. For Saddam, it sounds to me like “SUH-dahm”. Any actual Arabic speaker want to weigh in on that one?

We don’t have “received pronunciation” here. It’s just wrong and Dictionary.com is full of crap. Which is NOT also pronounced “carp,” as that is a fish used to make Jewish fishy meatballs.

Disparaging a pronunciation because it doesn’t meet some standard is exactly what a prestige dialect does. It’s tiresome. Millions of people use the “nucular” pronunciation. I hope that we can get past mocking diversity for the purpose of imposing conformity to the majority. I’m sick of that fish.
Would that we could get a mole in that crew who could feed him ever more inflated numbers. One of two things would happen:
He figures he has a lock on the election and starts to coast, not putting much effort into the campaign and pocketing his donations instead.
Or (I think more likely) he continues to hold the rallies he loves so much and pulls out all of the stops. His base will lap it up, but they’re a lost cause anyway, and the rest of the country will grow ever harder against him.

Paul Manafort has been released because coronavirus in prisons. Although from what I read, there are no cases of coronavirus in the prison he was in. But also, if things are going so well that we should reopen the country, then what’s the fear about his prison?

Wife works in medical research. I’m currently watching a web panel discussion over her shoulder of a variety of 5 experts discussing the status of monitoring and testing. It’s now transitioning to reopening.
This is what the public needs to see. Unbiased experts discussing the situation from a purely scientific perspective, for an audience of scientists.
Instead, we get a parade of propagandists. Bless Fauci, but he still has to walk a fine line.
