The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

Because it was a Civil War, which means people in one part of the country supported the side that lost. And people in that part of the country still have some residual support for that cause.

Look at the British; they named a WWII tank after Oliver Cromwell, even though the republican side lost the English Civil War.

None of Trump’s demands were met. Total number of delegates is 336 instead of 2500. Trump’s speech won’t even be held at the convention - it will be in a different state.

All committees will not meet except for the credentials panels, meaning the platform approved in 2016 will become Trump’s in 2020.

I still see it as a big FU to Trump.

There are an awful lot of signs that at last, a majority of citizens in this country have had enough.

The thing about bullies is, push back on them and 98% of the time, they fold like cheap suits. Trump is such a one. The mask has slipped. All you have to do is give him some stick in return, and he instantly retreats like the coward he is and always has been.

It’s why I’ve never bought the notion that Senate Republicans are “afraid” of him. They know perfectly well, whenever McConnell has given the Trump leash a firm jerk, Trump backs off whatever kooky kaper he’s kontemplating.

Defiance by both the NFL and NASCAR are hugely telling. These are cultural touchstones in the right wing world. For them to reject Trump’s systemic racism at this point in time is seismic.

Reality for the RNC is sinking in day by day.

I don’t think it’s fair to say the republican side lost the war. You could just as easily claim that the rebels didn’t lose the American Civil War since there was an upswelling in support for the values of the rebellion, and indeed, in time, political power from people who wanted to emulate it, it’s just that the timespan between the resurgence in the case of the Restoration was smaller.

Just slap in everyone from the Sgt. Pepper album cover.

Of no actual consequence (other than that math is amazing): late last year I did a back-of-the napkin calc. and predicted that my two favorite Pit threads, ‘Trump Clusterfuck’ and ‘Stupid Republican Ideas’ would be neck and neck (reply-wise) by June 14. Looks like the prediction is going to be darn close.

Proves nothing, of course, except that 3 ‘scoops’ of Cluster = 11 ‘scoops’ of Stupidity. Seems like a fair appraisal.

The International Criminal Court has announced it will begin investigations into war crimes committed on all sides in Afghanistan. in retaliation, Individual 1 has banned any of the court’s staff OR THEIR FAMILIES from getting visas to enter the US, and will freeze their assets in the US.

This sounds very much like an idea that Trump got from Putin.

I don’t think there are many “ideas” Trump has that don’t come from Putin.

They speak quite regularly now and it’s not much reported. The only readouts we get of what supposedly took place during the conversations come from Russia.

Trump is following an authoritarian agenda much in alignment with how Putin’s Russia is structured. Coincidence?

My first thought was picturing Putin whispering to Trump: “Yes, Donald, you should nuke those hurricanes. Put alligators in the moat in front of your beautiful Wall. Don’t forget to kill the virus by injecting bleach…”

And so on.

I agree.

He’ll talk a LOT of shit about “X” when he’s in front of a camera, at a rally, or on Twitter. But whenever he comes face to face with "X’, suddenly it’s no longer “sleepy Joe” or “Cheat’n Obama”. And now they’re “good people”.

The only time I’ve ever seen him be “brave” was when he called Hillary a nasty woman on the debate stage. Interesting she happens to be a woman.

Well, I guess there was that debacle in Canada wherein he trolled all the diplomats there. But that seems like an outlier.

Well, the latest one that worked was this: Klamath Falls, Oregon Victory Declared over Antifa, Who Never Showed Up (NBC News).

Man, that George Soros has a shit-ton of money to throw around, doesn’t he?

Klamath Falls – that’s exactly where you’d want to inflame racial and cultural tensions, isn’t it?

There aren’t enough eyerolls in the world. This idiocy carried over to Coos Bay, too.

I am embarrassed that these are my fellow Oregonians. But they were hardly alone. This nonsense – dangerous as it is – sprung up in many rural corners of the country.

And Russian fingerprints are all over it (EU Political Report).

Trump may use his rally on June 19th in Tulsa as the occasion to read Stephen Miller’s speech on race relations.

Tulsa, site of the 1921 massacre.
Juneteenth – Emancipation Day.

For any other president, the time and place would be significant; ideal for setting the country on the path towards a new era. Somehow, I don’t think Trump is going to be able to do that.

At this point, I would not be at all surprised to see Trump’s speechwriter Stephen Milller pen something for Trump like:

“We must return to the good days! The days when America was Great. June 1, 1921 was a fantastic day for our country!”

And with this post, the Clusterfuck thread overtakes SRIOTD.

Hey, I wonder if Miller’s special Unity Speech will finally break out the N-word? THAT would really “rally the base!”

However…

I’m embarrassed to be a Texan on many days. :frowning:

Something along the lines of: “How come they can say it but we can’t? So unfair!!!”

I’m not at all surprised. Most of that area is populated by knuckleheads and meth heads. That’s why Medford is usually referred to as “Methford”. Coos Bay is just the coastal version of that shithole.
