I cannot listen to Donald Trump speak without my blood pressure going up.
According to the NPR pre-speech analysts, Nicaragua didn’t sign because the agreement didn’t go far enough.
AIUI, Nicaragua’s stated reason was that this measure didn’t go far enough.
Nicaraqua did not sign the Paris Accord because, in their view, the Paris Accords did not GO FAR ENOUGH.
So, yeah, it’s basically just us. We are choosing to be the ignorant country not accepting the overwhelming evidence.
After Trump’s speech, Trump calls the EPA chief, Scott Pruitt, to come up to the podium, get on his knees and give the Trumpster a hummer.
Didn’t see one person of color and nary a female in the Rose Garden crowd.
Oh, I think not accepting the evidence is behind not accepting responsibility.
Did he mention the electoral college vote?
Trump has accomplished what I don’t think anyone believed was possible: in 100+ days the USA has achieved Third World status.
it was funny - I watched the fox version of the stream, and before it started the host made the comment that they (the media, I guess, or invitees) were offered multiple chairs to fill - which was previously unheard of.
this whole charade was orchestratd as an ego boost -
Well, we can’t deny he got a Supreme Court justice through the nomination process, but after that actual accomplishments seem rather thin on the ground. The vague claims he was making about jobs and illegal immigration seemed particularly questionable.
On to more important things. Why does Mr. Trump seem to want us all to be coal miners? Between that and his ranting about steam power, he certainly comes off as though he thinks 1910 or so was the golden age to aspire to.
You’e talking about the whole Presidency thing, right?
Climate change denial is the ultimate victory for the right wing media machine - purely driven by corporate greed … 30-40% of the voting public has been brainwashed!!! Ugh!! I will never forgive Trump and the Republicans for this… never
I know!! It is truly bizarre. One would have to assume that coal miners were a vital component of the winning coalition he put together–but I think the number of coal mining jobs in this country is incredibly small. There are probably more professional dog-walkers than there are coal miners.
Scott Pruitt is a whore. That is all.
yes - but this ‘event’ seemed triply so - with VP “introducing” and epa guy following up with just how great trump really is… gah…
I’ve seen a stat that Hardee’s has more employees than there are coal miners.
The irony is that even Exxon and other energy companies were okay with the Paris accord and even urged the President to keep the US in it. There’s been a lot of speculation about what this means beyond the symbolism of the US parting ways with the rest of the world, but I suspect that this move alone could kick off a wave of virulent anti-Americanism, particularly in places where large populations live in cities along the coast or are otherwise endangered by rising waters – potentially any continent in the world. I don’t expect heads of state to retaliate in some sort of hissy but this is the sort of thing that could spawn a grass roots type of global rebellion against American products and goods.
Ugh. The comments at the Breitbart and Fox News sites…“HAR HAR lib heads are exploding at CNN!” Etc.
Looks like the stupidest among us “got their country back!”
Republicans are in power; they gotta do what they do best.
Jerry Brown is scheduled to travel to China to talk with them about climate change initiatives.
