The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

Trump skips a WH-promoted rally to take a vacation.

Biggest rally ever of under one hundred in attendance.

The clueless in chief is still not aware that Pittsburgh is actually in favor of the Paris agreements.

There may be some semi plausible reasons to leave the agreement, but it really tells me than the ones supporting Trump do not even care that trump is also wrong about what city to use as his fig leaf.

What does it matter what Pittsburgh wants ? Like Trump gives a shit about anybody but himself. When he says he wants to “negociate a better deal”, he means “I want some money/ego-boosting photo ops for signing back on”.

2016 Election Results; Allegheny County (Pittsburg)

Clinton 367,617
Trump 259,480

Doesn’t give the figures for other candidates, but that would be 58.6% to 41.4% counting just those voters. Nice 17 point margin.

Well, Trump knows his Hitler. I say this half in jest: I wonder aloud if the idea is to equate a city that did not vote for him as a shield.

Not the same I know, but I think that Hitler decided to make a stand on Berlin in part because he knew the city deserved to go down. Berlin also did not vote for the Führer when they had the chance.

Pittsburgh is some serious overkill. He could use Dockery Mississippi with plenty of room to spare.

Dozens of us!

Wait, I thought he likes coal miners.

You know, I’ve been thinking: some fear that Trump will use war or a terrorist attack, real or not, to raise support and cement his power. It’s a legit concern, but after watching him and his administration “work” all these months, I can’t help but ponder the very real possibility that even if the right moment or plan presented itself, they wouldn’t just screw that up royally too.

Not that that means anyone can be complacent, of course, but I can’t help but think that his success in the attempt isn’t as guaranteed as some people seem to think it is.

With this guy shamelessly trying to take advantage of serious situations, what the hell would happen if there were a serious terrorist attack on the United States with him in charge?

He’ll do what he does best: Tweet and go golfing.

A serious attack in the US would be well covered by the media, so at least we would see the need for a rapid and possibly draconian response.

What is more problematic is if he announces draconian measures in response to some plot he claims has been discovered, the details of which must remain classified to protect sources. He has lied so much, about so many things, that less than half the country would take his word without proof.

That’s exactly what I’m saying: sure, it’s possible he’ll suddenly be competent enough to take advantage, or that the wave of reaction is so high that he can do anything and still gain, but I’m starting to wonder if the latter is the only way he’d be able to benefit significantly, and even then, how long he could keep it up.

ETA for TonySinclair: that’s a possibility, but given his relationship with the intelligence and federal law enforcement communities, I’m not sure how well it’d work, especially given the hands behind it. It could work, to be sure, but it’d take more from Trump and his people, I think, than what they’ve displayed so far.

The boy he cried wolf. This story was foretold a thousand times.

If there is a major incident, and he finds a way to blame on islamists, he will pound his drum, the skin of which is the executive order banning muslims from entering the country. That will be a bad scene.

Screwing it up royally might mean 500 million americans die in friendly fire incident too you know. No I’m not complacent.

You mean the one the courts have already blocked twice?

Meh, I think you’re overthinking that one. He (or his speechwriters) likely picked Pittsburgh for the simple reason that it’s an American city that starts with a P and has two syllables, like Paris. Which gives the phrase a nice rhetorical rhythm. Could just as easily have been Portland or Portsmouth.

but it was still stupid - since the people of Paris were not being specifically helped over the people of the US.

Its a nice meme - but its completely wrong - like everything else he does.

There are “Pittsburgh, not Paris” rallies all over the country with tens of people showing up. But Trump couldn’t be bothered to attend, not even the one that happened outside the White House. He was too busy golfing.
