Writing to one’s congressman is an exercise in futility. If that congressman is Republican, there is no chance whatever that your letter or email will be read, much less heeded.
So, what then? Torches and pitchforks? Perhaps that’s what we need.
But, I respectfully disagree. For now.
Unfortunately, they count on votes for their livelihood. Of course he will not read it. But my letter or email may go into the box/folder/directory that says how much the idiot is opposed.

Sorry, not seeing it. She does not seem to say a whole lot, so I cannot guess how intelligent she might be – but she has stayed with scum-boy, so that is a strike. Strong, I am going to guess no, she has probably not had any of the kind of life experiences that build strength. As for beautiful, she might have a good heart, but that frankenstein face is no more attractive than Sarah Palin’s.

My congresswoman is the most liberal member of Congress, so writing to her would be preaching to the choir. (Likewise, my 2 Democratic senators). But what if I wrote to a Republican? And, oh, perhaps mistakenly give the impression that I live in his district, and voted for him multiple times, and for Trump, but by God if he doesn’t show some backbone and stand up to that treasonous clown I will make sure he never goes near Washington again?
It’s not like they would ever trace my email address to my home… I mean, I’m sure they could, but the odds are against it.
I made an attempt to send an e-mail to Mark Meadows of Freedon Caucus fame. He has the whole system set up so you have to provide your zip+4 to even get to the email form and I think the form requires an address. That means I have to do a little more homework although it should be easy enough to come up with a valid street address in his district.
I want to tell him to stand up to Trump and to never compromise, because any YES vote on any healthcare, tax or spending bill will make him look like a little bitch, and I don’t respect or vote for Trump toys. I want him to know he will lose my vote if he votes for anything that spends even one taxpayer dollar on health care.
I actually want to make that pitch to all the Freedom Caucus members and other conservative Republicans. I’m 99% sure I’m going want them to block whatever version of the ACHA comes out of the Senate. It seems like a less futile strategy than calling up Republican congressmen and trying to talk them out of killing poor people, (which is kind of like trying to talk a cat out of killing birds and mice )

Along with the “write to your congressperson” issue, I think the “get out the Democratic vote” issue is also a non-starter because the areas which voted for Trump happen to be also seem to be quite predominantly Republican and just don’t have enough Democrat/non-Republican voters to counter that. How to change it? Well, it’s become incredibly obvious that education of the voters isn’t working, so the only other realistic option is to have a Democratic migration into those areas. I just don’t see that ever happening.
