Agreed. But at least it’s less transparently bigoted horseshit if it includes the country which actually did produce the scumbags who did 9/11. In other words, as it stands, it’s just retarded internally self-contradictory bigotry, instead of mere bigotry.
There’s also the fact the two involved came here as kids eight years before. There is no vetting so extreme that can look into the future.
So, what am I missing with the travel ban? People who have a connection to this country (which I assume most of the people coming through do have some sort of bona fide connection to persons or organizations in this country) won’t be allowed for 90 days to come through, and by the time the Supreme Court takes it up again in October, the ban will be over, right? I mean, it sounds like a pointless travel freeze to me, and it doesn’t seem to me that it’s going to slow much travel down.
People who do have a “proper” connection will be allowed in. Those who won’t, I guess, are your genuine nowhere to go refugees, temporarily, to keep us safe. Or something.
#WinningBigly!
Of course. Hence, my charge of bigotry.
My sentiments exactly. As the saying goes, don’t ascribe to malice that which can be explained by stupidity. Trump had no thought beyond riling up his base with some half-baked ill-conceived Muslim ban; and once he found himself in office, he just slammed it into being through an EO. And here we are.
This ban has always had the stench of whisky and stale sweat all over it.
Exactly. His EO’s mostly just turn over that horrible Muslim black mans work. His supporters think it’s great.
I won’t go into the ‘wall’ and his ‘original’ idea of putting solar panels on it. He’s a privileged white man that managed to do ok starting out with millions of dollars. He does not care one shit about the people that support him. Provided they keep up the adulation.
Sean Spicer released a statement today saying “The United States has identified potential preparations for another chemical weapons attack by the Assad regime that would likely result in the mass murder of civilians, including innocent children." Department of Defense officials say they don’t know anything about this supposed preparation and were not informed before the statement was released.
The pompous POTUS probably saw something from a link in a comment on the Alex Jones website and had Spicey put out the word so that if nothing happens he can take credit for preventing it. And if something happens, he can say he predicted it and then get to flex his muscle as the Conmander in Chief.
This isn’t entirely accurate. He started out with tens of millions from Daddy and managed to go bankrupt five times, building shitty monuments to himself on the Jersey shore. It wasn’t until good ol’ Fred Christ Trump dropped dead, leaving behind a half billion dollar fortune, that Donny managed to pull himself up by his bootstraps and become a self-made man.
Would these be the same innocent children Trump wants to ban from coming to America?
Bold added.
You got that part right for sure.
Hell, Der Trumpster can just predict bad things every day from now on and take credit when none of them happens. I can see Spicey’s announcements now: “The President prevented an epidemic of whooping cough! He kept a giant (secret) asteroid from hitting the earth! He prevented the sun from failing to rise!”
Hell, why not? His supporters lapped up his flack making up an incident in the past. This is just the, dare I say, logical progression of that. Now he’s making up stuff for the future that wasn’t going to happen anyway.
45 is not popular in most countries around the world. Except in Israel and Russia, he is significantly less popular than Obama in every country surveyed.
WTFF, Israel?!?
I’m surprised he’s doing so well in Mexico.
Obama was seen as a bit of a hapless bumbler when it came to the Middle East, and the Israeli public never really warmed up to him personally like it did with Bill Clinton and GWB. Trump is an idiot, sure, but he seems to be making the right choices so far as far as Israel and the Middle East are concerned, and people are still optimistic - at least, those who haven’t been watching him that closely are.
Plus, his grandchildren are Jewish. That means a lot to people.
Why, surely the Syrians couldn’t even be contemplating such a thing after Trump’s decisive and manly cruise missile attack of just a few months ago. Wasn’t that supposed to leave Assad crying like a baby and sure to never, ever, ever do such a thing again?
“So, noo… we know he’s an idiot. But he’s OUR idiot.”
