Considering what I bolded, you might have to start wishing.
I don’t think that sort of thing would ever happen. No one would allow him to do it as it would be a constitutional crisis the likes this country has never seen and the power to do that is nowhere to be found in the Constitution.
Let’s hope that bears out. With all this weird shit going on, less and less is surprising me, though, especially with some of the “rule changing” I’ve seen. I was just going by this poll.
Yeah, amazing levels of projection on the right. A lot of them swore up and down that Obama was going to do that sort of thing. Now that there’s one of theirs in the WH, they’re perfectly fine with it.
Made it more accurate. After all, if we were to list everything that Okra is clueless about one by one, we’d run of out electrons.
Bolded added by me to make it clear I’m not talking about running coach.
You really expect conservatives/alt-Reich to know Bible stuff? Ahahahahahahaha!

I’ll wager countless bills, in Lorne Greene years, that преЦАРдент Trump won’t even bother to wait for the others to bow out, and just nix the whole fucking thing.
This.
Every damn thing they’ve accused the Left of being, they are themselves. Their accusations are just revealing how their pathetic little minds work (or fail to).
On election night I was trying to find a diplomatic way out with Trumpists but there is simply none to be found. What they voted for was a racist, anti-semitic, misogynistic, lying, narcissistic shit bag, and they need to be called on it. I could kinda bring my mind to the point where I understood the thought that “He’s different, let’s see if ‘different’ works in American politics,” but not now. We’re more than half-way through his first year and it’s clear that this little experiment is not going to work, and there is no defending this guy unless you at least partially or wholly support any of the adjectives I used to describe him.
I don’t want to “understand” white working class people who voted for him. I don’t want to know what kind of message and political strategy it will take to convince his hardcore base to embrace a more tolerant and democratic society. That’s pandering and pussing out on our fundamental values. I don’t want any of that. I want them to fucking change. Just be adult men and women and admit you fucked up and voted for a turd, and be done with it. Move on.
Not gonna happen. I’ve said it before, and now I’ll say it again - the people that currently support this weak and losing “president” are profoundly stupid. They aren’t listening to anyone but Fox News, Hannity, Limbaugh, Breitbart and anyone that promises to stick it to Liberals. No matter how you talk to them, they Don’t Know and Don’t Want To Know and WILL NOT be educated.
They will ALWAYS be this way, there is no “changing” them, and trying to speak to them on their own terms will not work.
The only solution is to outvote them. There is no “winning them over.”
I agree with that. Even with Trump becoming totally unhinged and losing the support of the Republicans in Congress, latest polls show that about 60% of his voters will stick with him no matter what.
Should be shocking, but I don’t know that I can be shocked by this anymore. The Right Wing Media Complex has created a huge cancer in our midst and profited from it.
My dad is one of those, and it makes me very, very sad. This isn’t the same guy that raised me; this version of him is pig-ignorant, hateful, stubborn and only concerned with bashing liberals.
There is absolutely no reasoning with him. Last year, he went on and on about how Obama-that-scumbag was to blame for his step-grandson (whom he doesn’t even like) getting a two-week layoff from the mine where he worked. Yet, I explained to him how years of right-wing policy in Michigan directly cost me my job this spring, he didn’t seem to give a shit. I told him if they repeal the ACA, that essentially leaves his son, daughter-in-law and two young grandchildren uninsured, and he, surprise surprise, didn’t seem to give a shit.
True, and the businesses are not generally taking a moral stand, but protecting their bottom lines (the Merck guy I’d give credit for a moral stand).
But it is amazing that their words and actions better align with the supposed tenets of the moral leaders, and that the moral leaders on the council are not speaking up.
Many of them outright agree with his racism:
Others offer lame excuses:
Why would I have to imagine such a thing? I can read all about it, right there in the Bible!

and we can’t JUST outvote them thanks to the success they are having with voter suppression and heaven knows what else they are doing - our numbers have to BURY them.
we have those numbers but the Reich Wing is well funded and prepared.
Yeah, this is some deep culture war shit that I just can’t wrap my head around. I hear some of these types talk about how “I didn’t leave the Democratic party; the Democratic party left me.” Seems they were comfortable when the Democratic party was more of a compromise between northern labor and Middle America and Deep South’s social value system. When it became a more inclusive party many of these people left. I say good riddance - they’re aging and voting in fewer numbers. One of the reasons so many of them came out on election night is probably because they sensed that it might be their last chance. I’m in agreement that the Democratic party has probably become too focused on the problems of urban America and needs more outreach in the hinterland, but that can’t mean compromising values. There are probably a lot of people out there in farm country who really don’t care so much about ‘Heartland values’ at the federal level as long as their bottom line is taken care of.
