Well, that’s very good to hear. I wouldn’t have predicted it, but am pleased to have been wrong.

The one positive about this whole debacle is that we’re finding out that the right is not monolithic–it contains many people who are willing to stand up against ‘one of their own’ and reclaim the values of decency and community.

Well, I’m not sure how much to make of this, but may be that some evangelicals are coming round to the realization that they were played like violins during recent Presidential campaign. If so, good.

I wouldn’t agree with their policy priorities, but there was a significant faction at Liberty U that was vocally anti-Trump in the campaign when you were hard-pressed to find many in the high levels of the Christian establishment who came out against them, recognizing him for the hypocritical hedonist that he is. So they walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

So apparently Trump is going to be making a speech tomorrow, allegedly about war plans. I don’t know the time, but it’s likely it will be in the middle of the eclipse, because it’s always all about him.

Didn’t catch the name but this morning I heard a politician from Illinois complaining that Trump isn’t fulfilling his campaign promises. What stuck in my mind is that her hard-working Midwesterners are quite surprised their guy would in good conscience treat them like flyover country by working against their interests.

I was going to see if I could come up with positive spin on this, and the best I can do is that he may not have known of the collision yet (why not?) and that there were missing hadn’t been announced yet (so maybe he knew but was allowing the announcement to be made through proper channels (I’m killing myself here :D).).

But even that means that at best he is incapable of displaying on the fly empathy, which isn’t surprising.
