Surely that racist convict Arpaio could pay that racist president Trump for a pardon with a short-arm shovel.
The world would be a safer place if the Hater-in-Chief spent the rest of his term shoveling a pile of dirt in a desert. Surely he must have an old real-estate sign that could be written over with “Trump Presidential Library.”
As I said a few weeks ago when Trump was having a hissy over the Obamacare bill, Senator McConnell is not the guy Trump wants to fuck with. Conservative populists might rage against McConnell but the fact is that they owe him a lot more than someone like Trump. Without McConnell, there’s a left-leaning majority on the Supreme Court. Obama’s legislative agenda was severely derailed because of McConnell. He has built coalitions that obstruct on defense and score on offense. Trump has done absolutely nothing and McConnell’s right - his distractions may have made it easier for moderates to say no to Trump publicly in states where he’s not as popular.
Trump might be planning to use his base to go after McConnell, but with Bannon’s departure, that might not work so well. Bannon is going to brutalize Trump every time he appears to get soft. Trump can’t be both a more conventional president and keep his base. If things had started out differently he might have been able to pull that off, but he’s trapped now. He’s made too many enemies on many fronts.

McConnell would not have said what he did about Trump if he did not know for sure that a significant number of Senators agreed. He’s not one to stick his (turtle’s) neck out.
Antagonizing McConnell seems to be along the same lines as being unnecessarily rude to your waiter. Forrest Trump may come to regret that when Turtle is weighing an impeachment decision after Mueller has presented his findings.

Haven’t had a chance to look at the news today, but heard on NPR in the car that the glow of statesmanship and mental cohesion that Trump acquired after his Afghanistan speech was blown by his ranting behavior at the Phoenix rally. Can someone catch me up?
It was the same as any other rally. “Lock her up” chants, ranting about the fake media, claiming the liberal other is trying to destroy “our culture” (what does a billionaire New York real estate developer share culturally with Arizona Trump voters?). He lied about why he was getting flak for defending neo-Nazis. Implied he’d pardon Joe Arpaio.
These rallies are just orgasms of collective white suburban rage, but as Steve Bannon will surely talk about in the coming months, there’s going to be a time for Trump to deliver the checks that his big fat mouth is writing. He’s painted himself into a corner. He can’t be nice Trump and white nationalist Trump at the same time. That’s not the sort of issue that lends itself to compromise.
Read in WaPo this morning that people were leaving before he was done. It was rambling, the event was long, hot and people had their water confiscated on their way in.
Also, from what I gather, he was especially vicious toward the media, more so than usual, accusing them of genuinely hating America.
It was probably having their water taken that did it. Those people are idiots.

Mrs. Turtle was one of the figures used as stage props for Orangeanus’ “many fine people among the Klansmen and neo-Nazis” speech. I’ve heard that Mr. Turtle is… not entirely pleased about that.
Meanwhile, Hillary apparently refers to Trump as a “creep” and said he made her skin crawl in a book excerpt.
