Whoa! quite the awesome quasi-retirement thingie from Gary Cohn.
A real cracka, ‘Pheel’, as the inestimable Ray Hudson would say.
Not sure if I’m reading the ending right:
Meaning - he’s just gonna normalize all the shit flung his way now?
Maybe I’m being whooshed, but… the article in your link appears to be satire, written by someone other than Cohn.

Right, Cohn has made highly critical remarks of Trump this week. But the “letter of not quite resignation” in the link Eddie the Horrible provided is a joke letter written by a WaPo columnist.
Trump just pardoned Arpaio. On the flip side, the Nazi Gorka resigned.
I’m sure that’ll dominate a few news cycles OH HOLD ON
I wonder if that will signal more authoritarian and anti-minority crime followed by pardons.

Only if Trump gets something from it. Therefore, your average cop is probably going to be underneath his notice.
Oh course Trump pardoned Arpaio. Historically, presidents do their pardons near the end of their term in office.
:smack:
Oh those goddamned little “opinion” words.
I’ll be expecting that in 44 point size next time.
Well, he had to do something to take the notice off the hurricane.

**I don’t doubt for a moment he’d do it, either. **It’s the perfect opportunity to achieve cult status with the neo-confederates whom he’s being forced to repudiate. He might be forced to say “Uh, yeah, sorry!” to the media (whom he once again labeled his enemies in a campaign ad that just rolled out). He can say “Sorry” while winking and nodding and immediately following it up with the pardoning of Joe Arpaio.
The extremists in this country are going to take their cues from the Donald, and as I warned, this is his counter-strategy to the investigation. Trump finds himself being cornered by the rule of law, by law and order, by the Constitution. He’s fighting not only for his political survival, but the survival of his family name and empire. This is going to be a no-holds-barred fight, and he’s not going to play by the rules. He has millions of rabid pit bulls he could unleash at any time, and he’s whipping them up into a frenzy. He’ll use them to intimidate anyone who gets in his path. Classic strongman, authoritarian stuff here, folks.
Whether Trump turns out to be America’s first rule authoritarian or ends up being a proto-authoritarian, we’re getting closer to the point of no return. It will take us years to clean up this massive hurricane of shit that the country stupidly allowed to gain power, and I don’t see any scenario in which this ends well.
Yep, it happened. And everything else is going to happen, unless Democrats retake congress next year.
Don’t tease like that!
Yeah, God forbid anything else should be in the headlines.
Boo. Yay.
Regarding the first part, just when I’m thinking that orange-mopped prick can’t disgust me any more, he goes and does it again. Also, clearly timed to hit just after the close of the weekday news cycle (and to get buried in the hurricane news). Clearly someone in the WH is finally learning.
There is some confusion as to whether Gorka resigned or he was fired. He claims he resigned. Others are saying, “Yeah, maybe not.”
Late Friday night, controversial White House advisor Sebastian Gorka leaked his resignation letter to The Federalist, claiming he could help President Donald Trump better from outside. The White House is disputing that account."Sebastian Gorka did not...
A fine tweet from Rick Wilson:
A while back a doper came up with I what I thought was the best word to describe the putz: supercilious.
So now I’m trying to imagine the smug fuckstick doing the Charlie Brown skulk outta there.
I’m normally not the schadenfreude-y type, but fuckin eh.

Will Donnie offer support for those caught in the hurricane during his morning tweets, or will it throw jabs at a certain Arizona senator ?
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement today on President Trump’s pardon of former Sheriff Joe Arpaio:
“No one is above the law and the individuals entrusted with the privilege of being sworn law officers should always seek to be beyond reproach in their commitment to fairly enforcing the laws they swore to uphold. Mr. Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt for continuing to illegally profile Latinos living in Arizona based on their perceived immigration status in violation of a judge’s orders. The President has the authority to make this pardon, but doing so at this time undermines his claim for the respect of rule of law as Mr. Arpaio has shown no remorse for his actions.”
Like that’s even a question.

Awesome.
Let us hope and pray (and work for) this to be the situation.
Except that doesn’t work anymore, what with social media and 24-hour news channels and sites. Traitor trump, as usual, is living in the past.
