I’m not too worried about that. It’s Dems who are leading the charge against Sessions, for bonafide reasons. He keeps lying under oath! They can’t ignore that.
Chuck Grassley (of all people), though willing to opportunistically assist Trump at times, occasionally seems to demonstrate there are some red lines for him. Firing Mueller is one of them. He has said as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee that the soonest the Committee would be able to consider a new Attorney General would be next year. Moreover, many Republicans have indicated they will not tolerate firing Mueller.
Believe me, if Trump thought he could fire Mueller, he’d have already done it.
I did notice another tidbit in the news today that I find mildly encouraging: Bob Mercer will officially step down from his hedge fund on January 1, 2018, and he is selling his stake in Breitbart. Steve Bannon isn’t going to be as well funded as he has been soon. He’s a big part of the movement to fire Mueller.
Only 28% of Joe Citizens disapprove of the job Mueller is doing. That means that even some Trump supporters are on board with keeping Mueller in place. Big problem for Two Scoops.
