I didn’t explain this well the first or the second time. I won’t go for a third.
I apologize to asahi. I meant well, but was unable to communicate as I intended.

So, how 'bout that Trump Administration… A clusterfuck in the making, am I right or what?
Well, it’s been a year since he won the election so… “in the making” is starting to fade in the rearview and the clusterfuck has become a fog that our headlights can’t even begin to penetrate… but… yeah.
I think “in the making” is still accurate . With the firings, resignations, and arrests.
I’ve been busy these past few days and barely noticed Traitor Trump’s overnight stay here in Waikiki last night. Didn’t even get caught up in the traffic chaos. He and [Del]his Eastern European hooker[/del] [Del]the First Lady[/del] his Eastern European hooker landed at Hickam AFB, then they were driven into Waikiki here, then all the way back out to Pearl Harbor for the standard presidential ceremony out there, then back to Waikiki. All of this during a Friday afternoon rush hour. They stayed just a few blocks from us but not in Trump Tower. It was the Ritz-Carlton Residences Waikiki. But he did stop off at Trump Tower on his way out this morning to say hello to the staff despite the fact that he hasn’t owned it for a long time.
There were some protests yesterday but oddly not here in Waikiki. There was a big protest outside the State Capitol of all places. I mean, WTF? The State Capitol is not near Waikiki but next to downtown. And Hawaii is a heavily blue state, with a Democratic governor and Democratic legislature. Talk about preaching to the choir.
Given his fondness of ethnic stereotypes, I guess we’re lucky Trump doesn’t think they’re all four feet tall with buck teeth and bifocals, riding around in rickshaws and eating “flied lice”.
Shooting down missiles is another of those issues, like climate science and evolution, on which many conservatives appear to be impervious to scientific reasoning.
Republican positions on these science issues seem to alternate between whining "Come on, boffins! Show us the simple and cost-effective solution to this massively difficult and complex problem, immediately!" and whining “Shut up, boffins! Who cares what you commie intellectual elites think, anyway?”
Don’t be silly. That’s only the Chinese.
You assume he’s sophisticated enough to distinguish between the two.
The Chinese don’t wear bifocals.
Conservatives realize you need to be firm with science and show it who’s the boss. When science does something right, praise it and reward it with a treat. When science does something wrong, hit it on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.
Thelma Lou has a piano?
Huh. I did not know that.
I haven’t looked at the headlines yet this morning (I usually come here first to see if Armageddon has happened during the night), but you mean Thump got through that ceremony without putting his [del]foot[/del] feet in his mouth? He didn’t say something like, “I prefer ships that don’t sink”?
Actually, I do.
<pondering…>
I think “in the making” still applies. When you build something, you go through a construction phase and then it’s done. You build a swing set and then it’s finished and the kids play on it (do kids still do that?). Or you work on a sculpture and then it’s finished, and it goes into a museum.
But some things are always works in progress, and a presidential administration falls into that category. Like a garden, for example. A garden is always “in the making.” It evolves and changes with the seasons and, in fact, is different every day and even at different times of the day. One of the joys of having a garden is to go out in the morning and see what new thing has sprouted, bloomed, or ripened overnight.
In the case of the Thump administration, we have a rank, weedy garden, and every day we look at the news and see some invasive, ugly growth that has sprouted in the wee hours and is getting ready to creep over to the healthy plants and strangle them. The weeds are smelly, spiky, and poisonous. Some of the poisons are immediately harmful and even deadly; some of them won’t kill you for a while. Even if the garden were dug up and composted, the effects will linger for many years (e.g., Gorsuch).
You get the idea. Every day there’s some new growth, ranging from annoying to obnoxious to potentially deadly. Like NORMAL gardens, this one is ever-changing and always surprising. But this Edward Gorey, Chas Addams garden is grotesque and without beauty, order, or nourishing harvests.
One thing I will say for the Thump Garden, however: there’s plenty of manure.
Ergo, “in the making” still applies." *Quod erat demonstrandum. *
Keep in mind that at this point in their presidencies, Nixon still hadn’t had Watergate, Reagan still hadn’t sold arms to Iran, and Bush still hadn’t invaded Iraq. We can’t assume Trump’s clusterfuckedness has hit its peak yet. A year from now, we’ll probably all be wishing things were still like they were back in 2017.
but not the kind that improves the soil
manure from a toxic disease-ridden source maybe
I’m wishing we were in whatever year the callous orange buffoon suffers a near fatal stroke that leaves him mute, incontinent and trapped watching CNN reports of newly elected President Michelle Obama.
And Vice President Clinton-Mezvinsky…
Here’s Trump’s explanation of why Manafort was fired “Well, I think we found out something about he may be involved with all - with certain nations, and I don’t even know exactly what it was in particular.”
You can see Trump’s struggling here. He wants to blame all the crimes on Manafort to absolve himself. But at the same time he doesn’t want to admit he knew any crimes had occurred. Basically, Trump’s been telling conflicting stories and he still can’t decide which one he wants to commit to.
Richard Nixon or Bill Clinton would have figured out some evasive answer that was deceptive but technically true. Franklin Roosevelt or Lyndon Johnson would have just figured out the best lie and told it with a straight face. Ronald Reagan would have lied but he would have believed what he was saying was true. Donald Trump doesn’t want to tell the truth but also doesn’t know how to tell a good lie.
Hilariously, some of the protesters trolled him with “Welcome to Kenya” signs.
It’s the black hole of clusterfucks. It just keeps sucking more and more stuff in.
