That jackass interviwee reminds me of Example Two in the OP of this thread. Also, he doesn’t know the difference between commission and commissioner. I thought lawyers are supposed to be expert communicators.
Who’s still saying “it can’t happen here”?
Also, another great name within this administration. Reince Priebus, Hogan Gidley, Omarosa Manigault, Anthony Scaramucci… the list just keeps growing!
ETA: I forgot the link to that quote: Trump assails FBI leadership, touts loyalty to police | AP News
I’m hoping President Volatile Scumbag’s support from Faux News will be significantly hampered by Disney’s purchase of 21st Century Fox, despite that there’ll still be some setbacks.
ETA: Any coincidental timing with the net neutrality nonsense from yesterday?
Good God, I watched a couple minutes of that yesterday, because I couldn’t stand to watch it all. How do you get through law school without knowing Daubert?
And? I’m pretty sure FBI was quite biased against Al Capone too.
Or a Motion in Limine. Wow.
Why would Peterson even want to be a District Court judge, and why would Trump want him? Is there some case Trump expects to be coming before the court which Peterson could rule on in his favor? Aren’t there enough actual judges Trump could appoint?
For Peterson, well, who wouldn’t want a lifetime job with awesome pay and benefits and respect? For Trump, well, I don’t think his goal is “make sure that competent qualified people are in judge positions”, I think it’s more like “I like this guy and who cares what happens in the courts? I won’t be there and if I am, this is my guy”.
Again, I don’t think you understand Trump’s (and his supporters’) goals. Who cares if the guy isn’t qualified? Part of the goal is to break the system; how would having an unqualified judge make bad rulings (and conduct a poor courtroom) for at least a few years not help that?
Ask him about lesser included offenses! That’s the true test!
These people are nominated because they will decide cases purely on the basis of conservative ideology. Judge Roy Moore, is the ideal they are striving for. To that end knowing something about the law would actually be detrimental.
All of Dump’s posturing about how the FBI is in tatters and the Mueller investigation is corrupt… this is all just laying the groundwork for a mass of pardons.
“These are some great people, just wonderful people, believe me. The corrupt Justice Department and Mueller completely blew it. Sad. I’m pardoning all these people so that justice will truly be done.”
The MAGAts will swallow that up like nobody’s business.
Or laying the groundwork for firing Mueller. Either way … pissing off the FBI doesn’t seem like a really smart move.
It looks like the strategy of the Trump Defense Team was: get the list of everybody on Mueller’s team. Dig through their social network history. And come up with … some guys who posted “Trump is a jerk!” on Facebook (like millions of others). Scream “Bias! Corruption!” on Fox as loudly as possible.
Madeline Albright on taking the foreign diplomatic reins from trump.
He panders to the rank & file while vilifying their bosses. That’s like Dictator Lesson #17, How To Ensure You Can Arrest Other Authority Figures.

You think this would just entail firing Mueller? :dubious:
His speech to FBI grads was like a Fox News Greatest Hits medley. MS-13! Chicago homicide! Hillary!!
The messages they released a few days ago weren’t social media messages, they were text messages between two people who work at the FBI. It seems really inappropriate to me to come out with those as if it’s some kind of scandal.
I can see that it was OK for Mueller to re-assign Strzok (sp?) to something other than the Trump investigation, because you don’t want the appearance that the investigators don’t like him. Publicizing the message goes way beyond, into unethical territory.
Here’s some good news:
I don’t even know how to label this. “If we don’t talk about it, it doesn’t exist, and we don’t have to spend any money on it”? Someone help me out (it’s been a long day).
There is one way to stop the march toward authoritarianism, but it will potentially - indeed likely - involve sacrifice.
And the way to fight authoritarianism - besides voting and political involvement - is for these scientists to simply refuse to obey their orders. Easier said than done, I realize, and they will probably get fired, but that is the position that decades of feckless voting have put these highly conscientious public servants in.
This is what angers me when I listen to little midget minded Jill Stein, Gary Johnson, and Bernie Bro voters. “It’s my vote and I can do whatever I want with it - it’s my toy.” Yeah tell that to the people who work in science and know that your wasted “activism” is going to get tens or even hundreds of thousands of people needlessly killed because of a religious crusade.
