On another note, did you know that Donald, of House Harkonnen, worst of his Name…has a spiritual adviser? No, really! I am not making this up!
Her name is Paula White. If you know nothing about her, rest assured that you can guess. Our good friends over at Crooks and Liars have a brief info, if you are not already feeling bad enough. You’re welcome!
I absolutely agree with you there, although it would still be true, just to a lesser extent, if he got 25% of the vote. 10 years ago, I considered it a pretty sad state of affairs that Dubya could get all the votes he did. It was absolutely inconceivable that an absurdity like Trump could even do as well as Perot (and Perot’s 19% was pretty ridiculous itself).
But that’s completely different from a notion of there being collective blame due to anyone who has opposed Trump all along. That’s just wrong.
In Trump’s White Trash Nation, actual church-going Christians are sekrit Moooslems, and phony, pandering shitbags are shining lights of piety. As long as they are white. Praise Geezus.
I dunno. I think “the collective” (the terminology already poisons this argument for conservatives, but since they are apparently immune to argument anyway, fuck 'em!) failed to show the proles to the light. When The Great Huckster was pandering to the suckers and chumps, “the collective” did not make the right moves to convince them that they were being played for marks. Admit at least that much.
Can you see the distancing action at work in your post? You are all like, “this is Those guys’ fault, not me!” But separation is an illusion (*sometimes). You ARE to blame. You didn’t do what was required. “You”, as the collective, I mean. But that is You qua you, yanno?
*disclaimer
I hope this is tongue in cheek (as it kinda seems like it might be). If not: Okay, I “failed” to convince them not to vote for Trump. And they failed to convince me to vote for him. Um, okay? So?
And yes, I feel pretty distant from Trump voters. Romney and McCain, I can understand voting for (although I did not). I could even kind of understand voting Cruz, although he is pretty diametrically opposite everything I believe in. Voting Trump, I don’t get at all.
Sort of tongue in cheek. But then again, I think we in America are getting more divided. Us “educated people” are losing contact with the Trump types to the point that they disappear down the propaganda hole. I don’t know that I have the answer since attempts at outreach can backfire into accusations that you are a liberal agent for Hillary Clinton out to turn them gay (or God knows what it is now), but still, there is a definite lack of unity. As you say yourself, you don’t even understand your fellow countrymen. What happened?
