Banks are foregoing armed guards for a very good reason; having armed guards makes it much likelier someone will get hurt.
Yes, that creates a very good chance that the robber will simply grab the weapon from the fat, diabetic retiree sleeping in his chair by the door.

None anymore really, now that banks all have those Lexan shields at the teller windows, dye packs in the money bags, cameras everywhere, etc. Most transactions aren’t in currency anymore either.
In many parts of the US, banks still have un-shielded teller windows. I certainly have seen banks like you describe, most consistently in NYC, but “all banks” are not like that.
And the armed guards could very well prevent the “storm in with weapons drawn” style of bank robbery, assuming it was ever an issue to begin with.
It’s been a *long *time since I even heard of a bank robbery by anyone other than a desperate, stupid junkie acting alone, and never do they get very far.

Curious little trivial tidbit that’s neither here nor there: apparently two years ago Pence had just one bank account with $15,000 in it. This was just before he became running mate alongside President Maybe One Day, Eric.
So when the VP gig eventually goes bust, hopefully MP will have to do something embarrassingly menial to buoy up his precarious finances.
It’s going to be one of two things:
(1) He’s going to go get some “chair” at Liberty University or something equally bigoted and go on the Speech circuit to make 5-6 figures per speech.

(2) He’s going to be in a nice place where he doesn’t have to be alone with any women who aren’t his wife that also has free housing, clothing, and 3 hot meals a day…

There are isssues that happen that aren’t robberies: belligerent customers, panhandlers, just keeping an eye out when the change truck comes in, etc.
