Supposedly a significant reason for his election was that he was a (great) businessman, not a politician, thus he’d shake things up, do things differently, and make everything better simply because he was a Washington outsider. Maybe, maybe, this might have moved things in an overall positive direction, if we had actually elected a ‘true’ and truly successful businessman. Hasn’t Trump always ever headed up family-run businesses, not having to temper his decisions and behavior to answer to a board of directors, unlike (I’m assuming here) the vast majority of CEOs?

When I read Bryan Ekers’ post that you quoted I was wondering for how long the well might now be poisoned for “businessman” candidates. “Remember the last time we elected someone without experience in managing government? We got Trump.” Said in the same tone as “Remember the last time you went running in the cold rain without a shirt? You got pneumonia.”

A spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has resigned over what he described as “false” and “misleading” statements made by Attorney General Jeff Sessions and ICE acting director Thomas D. Homan.

James Schwab worked out of the agency’s San Francisco office until he abruptly quit last week. He said he had been told to “deflect” questions about the Oakland, Calif., mayor’s interference with an ICE raid last month and to refer reporters to statements from Sessions and Homan that suggested that hundreds of “criminals” (“criminal aliens,” Homan called them) escaped capture in Northern California because the mayor tipped them off.

“I quit because I didn’t want to perpetuate misleading facts,” Schwab told the San Francisco Chronicle. “I asked them to change the information. I told them that the information was wrong, they asked me to deflect, and I didn’t agree with that. Then I took some time, and I quit.”

I was just about to link to that same 11-minutes-ago story. Nothing confirmed yet, but several news outlets are saying the same thing --that Perry is probably going to be subbed in for veterans affairs secretary David Shulkin.

Shulkin has been getting bad press for a while now, for corrupt practices. Trump won’t stand for graft if he’s not getting a cut, and apparently Shulkin hasn’t been sharing.
