The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues (Part 1)

Hell no. But I’m not his target demogrophic and neither are you. A large chunk of your country listens to him and votes for him and as I understand it find him entertaining. They may get bored by the 30 minute point, but still.

Palestinians are actually very merry. Almost Love, Perfectly.

Listens and votes, sure.

Finds him entertaining? Eh, maybe? I’m not sure it’s so much they are entertained as he actually seems to hate the same people they do, as opposed to mainstream Republican leadership up to now, who only gave them token assurances they were on the same side of the culture wars.

They like that he’s the other way around - he says the dog whistles and gives token assurance he’s not really a raging bigot. So they give full throated approval.

It’s like cheering your side in a football match. How objectively lacking in entertainment or talented the side, it doesn’t matter to that crowd. What does matter is (1) he’s “their” guy and (2) he keeps winning (if only by appearances). If either stops being true, they’ll fall away as they always do. It’s happened in small part repeatedly - they don’t care about lies or broken laws or whatever but get into a mouth-foaming frenzy if somebody succesfully mocks him on social media, because that only happens to ‘losers’ in their minds and is their primary metric of ‘winning’. Check the Leopards thread - they’ll still support him even as his policies bankrupt them.

I really believe that many of his fans purposefully don’t listen to his speeches or read his rants. Deep inside they know he is crazy but don’t want the proof in their face. It’s so much easier to just accept the tasty soundbites their media feeds them and not think about it. There are probably more liberals being exposed to him simply out of the horrified curiosity of witnessing the shit show.

The felon’s skipping a vice president’s funeral.

“Donald Trump and Greg Abbott played with fire, got burned and democracy won.”

In short, doing something legally is the way to go about it. Of course that’s a lesson the felon will never learn.

The felon and his fools are being investigated for contempt of court.

The felon signed the Epstein file release bill.

I’m wondering now how much of this stuff will be redacted, similar to The Gulag Archipelago.

But the felon’s still going to try for revenge.

The felon stepped on his dinky ~.

And here’s the kicker.

Killer Kennedy doesn’t believe peanut allergies are related to exposure.

And what does he think should be done about it?

Don’t you tihnk it’s about time for the courts to ban the felon and his fools from using the word “inadvertently” or “mistakenly”?

No, there’s no way whatsoever this was inadvetent. And how wonderful of the felon and his fools to allow her to come back to the US if she can manage it on her own only to be deported to a third country.

Puppy killer Noem’s confession read into the congressional record.

Yep. The cruelty is not only the point, it’s the only point.

The felon’s stripping some service members of retirement benefits.

Felon freed by felon commits, you guessed it, felony.

No they listen - for the emotional tone. And he’s amazingly good at conveying emotional tone to stupid people.

That’s because he’s a mean and spiteful whiner, just like them.

Some of that but also “I’m a big confident blustery guy whose good at everything and I’m going to bring so much win!” positivity.

Needless to say the gulf between the reality and the message could not be wider. But nonetheless the one thing he’s good at IMHO is selling an upbeat fantasy to dumbasses.

Big brother is watching.

The U.S. Border Patrol is monitoring millions of American drivers nationwide in a secretive program to identify and detain people whose travel patterns it deems suspicious, The Associated Press has found.

The predictive intelligence program has resulted in people being stopped, searched and in some cases arrested. A network of cameras scans and records vehicle license plate information, and an algorithm flags vehicles deemed suspicious based on where they came from, where they were going and which route they took. Federal agents in turn may then flag local law enforcement.

Replace “Ginger” with “MAGA.”

I would not say “skipping” the funeral.

I’d say “is actually banned from attending, alongside Vance, and anyone else in this corrupt administration”

Excuse me…I speak gibberish. He was describing the bombing raid on the Iran nuclear site.

Can you imagine being too corrupt to go to Dick Cheney’s funeral??

Like the time Mike Pence was booed by the audience while attending a performance of Hamilton. Somehow, Aaron Burr was only the second-least-popular vice president in that theater…

Wait, so you haven’t actually listened to more than a few seconds or perhaps as much of a minute of any of his speeches but you assert he’s a master at conveying emotional tone? Based on what?

Maybe, just maybe, make your opinion more informed? Seriously, I know it’s painful but try sitting through as much of one of his ‘speeches’ as you can. At least an hour, if you can. And then maybe you can confidentially state such things. Because that faux-Trump you’ve built up in your head that conveys emotional sincerity to his followers bears little resemblance to reality.

Lorrie Moore, writing in the New Yorker in 2021:

So sue me: I sometimes find President Trump’s voice reassuring. Not what he says. Not the actual words (although once in a while one of his “incredibles” reaches inside my chest cavity and magically calms the tachycardia). Trump’s primitive syntax, imperfectly designed for the young foreign woman he married, always dismays. But during a coronavirus-task-force press conference, when one hears him on the radio, his voice has music. Sorry. It does. A singer’s timbre; it is easy on the ear. Trump’s is a voice you use to calm down people you yourself have made furious. (His foremost mimics—Alec Baldwin, Stephen Colbert—have not captured its pitch, its air, its softness, which they substitute with dopiness, which is also there.) For the first ten minutes, before his composure slackens and he becomes boastful and irritable, he actually just wants to be Santa Claus in his own Christmas movie, and the quality of his voice is that of a pet owner calming a pet. I hear it!

(Those were the days…)

Thanks for that

I like the “for the first ten minutes” bit. That’s exactly what I meant. Though he doesn’t seem to have even that much stamina anymore.

To me, his voice sounds like that of a spoiled four-year-old with terminal adenoids who’s just had his favorite toy taken away.

In other words, like mine. And I hate listening to my own recorded voice.

Now you have me imagining DJT reading the Desiderata

Now he’s demanding that members of Congress be executed for making a PSA reminding servicemembers of their duty to refuse illegal orders.
