The Trump administration is seeking custody of Tina Peters, the former GOP Colorado election clerk who was sentenced to nine years in prison on state charges for her role in a 2021 voting system data breach, in a failed attempt to find voter fraud.
There is no basis for the Bureau of Prisons to request a transfer of her custody. Any scheme to prevent her from being held accountable under Colorado law is outrageous.
The fact that the Republican base keeps nominating and electing crazy assholes is all the explanation that’s required.

This is just a small anecdotal point, but I have a few “friends” on Facebook that are die hard Trump supporters. I mostly unfollowed them because I can’t stand the rhetoric, but I will open their profiles directly when I want to feel some recreational outrage and just see how they spin whatever is in the news. For at least the past month now, all of them have been dead silent on Trump. These are people that parrot the Republican Party Line word for word and all I see is emptiness.

I think you are probably too intelligent to be able to listen to him without considering what he is actually saying. Once you do that of course it’s somewhere between coherent idiocy and incoherent gibberish.

My take is and has been it’s like church - it’s literally a cult. They know how to respond to the shout-y preacher guy up front. It’s rote.
They don’t get or need to get what he’s saying. Or even really care about his “tone”. The only thing that matters is he’s on their “team” and says bad word things about other “teams” (whether that’s Democrats, furriners, women, minorities, etc).
They can be balancing their checkbooks while he drones on. It doesn’t matter. They just need to be seen in their pews mouthing the appropriate words and (especially) making their tithes.
