Who are some prior politicians (senators?) who were as overtly and unapologetically biased as McConnell. When Johnson was manhandling Congress, did show his hand so blatantly? Here in Chicago, the fix was in under Daley.
Just wondering. It is impressive to see a national politician say, “Truth be damned, it’s all about our agenda.”
Didn’t Moscow Mitch’s father in law trade him a five-to-twenty-five million dollar gift in exchange for influencing government favors to his shipping company?
That sort of thing doesn’t matter any more, right, as long as a Republican does it?
The tower won’t collapse until it’s support does; and that’s not happening any time soon. Trump supporters are now all in and Congress is following instead of leading. Tucker Carlson finally realized he couldn’t argue the details of the phone call, so he’s now saying it isn’t an impeachable offense. That’s going to be the new party line.
I’m starting to fear the worst. Last week I did a tour of my old hood and met up with 4 friends separately. Every single one of them said they’d only vote Democrat if Biden was the candidate. I personally prefer Warren, and I know she’s polling well, but I got a really bad feeling about this. I think if Republicans think Warren will be the candidate they will be less likely to turn on Trump knowing the center will more likely vote Republican.
So are Republicans coming around? Are they softening on Trump? Or- are they going instead with red-faced screaming chaos, in defense of Trump? Have a look at this Meet The Press interview.
Thank you for your empirical observations and sharing this point. It bears out what I’ve been saying for ages: Biden is the one Trump fears most.
Sure, we all wish Biden was 10 years younger and didn’t have >40 years of public service from which to cherry pick moments that can be used to gaslight and tarnish. But honestly, that part doesn’t matter, because Republicans are going to do that to any Democratic candidate.
If we want to bring out the Citizens United crowd, just run Senator Warren. Big Tech and Big Money will array themselves against her in every way possible, because she has publicly declared war on their industries. I want them brought to heel as much as anyone, but until power is attained, we can’t get much done.
As much as I would support Warren in any other election, I’d rather see a Biden presidency with a Secretary of Commerce Warren than another 4 years of the Trump Cabal. Even in the unlikely event Trump is removed from office in advance of the election, Pence (if he survives) or some other Republican nominee will simply carry on the Republican goal of demolishing our democracy as we know it.
“Both” of our political parties work very well together, in tandem, to override the will of the unsubstantial people, the donor class has this covered “either” way.
Yup, if ya can rationalize that ya can rationalize anything, but hey, mindfuckedly rationalizing anything to achieve an end is as american as apple pie, violence and baseball.
Yeah, so when one looks at the past half century of societal wealth redistribution in america, it looks utterly bipartisan to me: https://online.wsj.com/media/EPI_productivity_compensation.png
Might be worth revisiting The Powell Memorandum and the Trilateral Commission publication “A Crisis of Democracy”, this stuff was no accident or “natural” phenomenon of “the market”.
