Pardon me if this has been answered already: could the Senate hold a secret vote in rendering its verdict at the conclusion of an impeachment trial? I’ve heard it suggested that a lot more Republicans would be willing to toss Trump out on his ear if they didn’t have to do so publicly and thereby enrage Trump’s true believers and draw primary challengers.
