- Trump’s personal attorney has no official role in the executive branch and is therefore not subject to any of the usual checks and balances on foreign policy activities.
- The official state business involved persuading foreign governments to investigate the family of Trump’s political rival.
- A pro-Trump PAC received funds from Ukrainian businessmen who are now in jail on charges of election fraud.
- Trump’s personal attorney received half a million dollars from these Ukrainian businessmen during the time that he was in Ukraine unofficially conducting US government business.
Is that right? Answer the question whichever way you see fit.

Turns out that Trey Gowdy can’t join the team after all. Those stupid lobbying rules say no former lawmakers can communicate with or appear before their former colleagues for a year after leaving Congress. And Gowdy only retired this year, so he can’t join until 2020.
In a signal that Rudy is not going to comply with the subpoena, Rudy and his attorney have officially parted ways today, the day that Rudy is due to turn over subpeonaed documents.

Nitpick: Deep Throat did not “pass on second-hand information” or indeed, initiate contact with Bob Woodward. Woodward contacted him because he was stuck. Deep Throat **verified **information that Woodward brought to him. So this is NOT analogous to whistleblower.
Also, Mark Felt wasn’t some random bureaucrat way down in the bowels of the system where he only had access to “second-hand information.” He was Associate Director of the FBI and was in line to replace Hoover.
It only cost $168,000 to produce the Trump dossier, of which (at least last time I looked) nothing has actually been disproven.
It’s pretty damn strange to have Ukranian criminals pay Rudy $500,000 to produce a dodgy dossier on someone who isn’t even running for President. At the very least, they are overpaying by a factor of three.
As George Conway noted today: “Someone calls 911 because they hear shots down the street at the bank.
