You realize that if Hillary is involved in campaign finance fraud that I absolutely want that to come out of an investigation as well.
There are plenty of people who would reject any and all findings completely, and chalk it up to a vast secret liberal conspiracy to “get” Trump - no matter what the evidence is.
Reality has left the building.
Well, he never had a REAL job before, he always had toadies, ass kissers, and marks surrounding him. He always had someone to do the REAL work for him and take the fallout when HE fucked up.
He doesn’t have the balls to do it.
He can’t shoot himself, his hands are too tiny to work a gun.
<spit take>
That’s true. But with a great-enough volume of evidence of a type that wouldn’t be easy to fake, the believers in secret liberal conspiracies would have a tough time holding up their heads. Their numbers would be diminished in direct proportion to the volume and quality of evidence.
For example, Trump on-camera making improper promises or agreements could be faked, but if there’s enough footage, the possibility of it being faked diminishes. Fanatics will never be convinced, but the better the evidence, the fewer people will be able to support fanatical ideas.
I think she woefully underestimated the percentage. All Trump voters are trash.
On my scorecard we are now entering phase II of the Trump saga.
I think the majority of republican congress has realized that he has to go. And therein lies the biggest problem. If they impeach him he will take down the party, and possibly the country out of spite. If he is pressured to resign he will react in his normal 4 year old throwing a tantrum manner and utterly refuse, resulting back at step one. So it is on to the waiting and psych games of trying to figure out how to get him to decide resigning is best for him, and was all his idea in the first place.
In a word, money. Send the signal that he can either sign the papers, or we will dive deep into every deal he ever made, and any irregularity discovered will be penalized to the extremest. We will reveal the details to anyone and everyone who might have been bruised in their dealings with him, and the skies over him will teem with lawyers circling, circling. We’ll get every last dime, freeze every asset, keep him in court forever.
He’ll yell “Geronimo” and hit the silk. And he will sign the papers. And once he is safely away from the levers of power, if some rogue prosecuting attorney or state legislature shall proceed anyway, I will arrive here promptly to disapprove of such dastardly behavior with a firm “tsk! tsk!”.
Maybe not “promptly”. I might be awfully busy, what with the giggling fits, and all.
I think the entire party long ago figured out he didn’t have the temperament for the job, but at the same time, they probably have a perverse admiration for the way he is assaulting public institutions and bullying the left. On one hand, Trump has been remarkably unproductive already given the fact that his party is in a position to dominate Washington right now – Republicans can’t be happy with that fact. At the same time, as you say, Trump’s support hasn’t eroded. GOP congressmen might go home to their districts and get yelled at by angry liberals at town halls, but the poll data still indicates that probably 45-75% of their voters have a generally favorable view of Trump, regardless of whatever he hasn’t accomplished and regardless of whatever treachery he’s accused of. So in short, while they know that they really should start working on a transition to President Pence, they also know it’s impractical and potentially politically suicidal even to talk about it at this point.

Its a classic “tipping point” thing. Move too soon, and you’re très boned, and its somewhat safer to wait until the stampede starts. The fun part is watching the various “leaders” scrambling to get it front of it and pretend to lead it.
(Worked a job for a utility, had a foreman who had a hat that read “I am their Leader! Where are they?”)
I don’t see how they can pressure him to resign.
WHAT?? Eat their own creation, their own baby? It would be like Dr. Frankenshteen eating his big baby boy. NEVER happen. They’ll at least wait out his term.
But how will they keep him from running in 2020? They will have lost control of the monster bigly by then.
Trump will never do anything that will get him labeled a “loser.” He is convinced that he is the smartest, best, most talented, most important man in the world. Why else would he be in the papers/media every single minute of every day. He will not let himself appear to LOSE. That is the thing he recoils from the most. In order for him to jump, he has to be seen as a winner.
MAYBE if all of his kids did an intervention and strapped him into the long-sleeved shirt with the buckles… maybe they could get him to leave quietly. Take away his phone. Encase his tiny hands in lucite blocks. A ball gag would help, too.
That’s the true insanity of all this. If he says something like that, is it because of neurological disease? Because he’s a pathological liar and braggart and making it up? Because he’s such a narcissist that he genuinely thinks everything great came from him? That he’s so ignorant that he’s never heard of such a thing but declares with confidence that it must never have existed without his invention? Is he rubbing it in our faces that he can do things like this and get away with it?
All of these things are entirely plausible - that’s what an incredible shit show this is. We can’t even figure out which particular defect this comes from because there are so many plausible ones to consider.
I have to remind myself sometimes to take this with the seriousness it deserves because it becomes difficult to avoid the outrage and absurdity fatigue. Any one of these things would sink any other politician, but because we’re on absurdity #4125 or outrage #5823 it just becomes unreal to us, it becomes background noise.
Even if the Republicans don’t impeach him (which they have to be seriously contemplating, at this point) they can at least begin disassociating themselves from him. As in, stop feeling a compunction to defend his various miscues, at a minimum.

President Trump asked James Comey in February to close the Michael Flynn investigation, Mr. Comey said in a memo at the time
Tuesday, May 16, 2017 5:26 PM EDT
President Trump asked the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, to shut down the federal investigation into Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, in an Oval Office meeting in February, according to a memo that Mr. Comey wrote shortly after the meeting.
“I hope you can let this go,” the president told Mr. Comey, according to the memo.
The existence of Mr. Trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the Justice Department and F.B.I. investigation into links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia.
I’m sure there will be a statement of concern from McCain and/or Graham by the end of the day. I’m also sure that’s all the GOP will do about it.
It would be a riot if Comey twitter trolls that twit-fuck. “Trump better hope there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversation before he goes flapping his lips!”
Hey Trump, bobot here, not Comey. Loose lips sink ships you dumbfuck.
