I have already discussed this with Tuba extensively in e-mail, but I have no qualms about saying it publicly: I look forward to her return to the SDMB, whether as Admin, Mod, or just plain “grunt”.
Besides all the scutwork she’s been handling, her contribution as a poster has always been a real hoot.
And I’ve always been a little sorry to see that “For The Straight Dope” constantly under her name. “What’s she like when she takes the Admin hat off?” I’ve always wondered. Because she rarely does. As posters and posts go, she’s like the Harvard Lampoon’s Bored of the Rings–such a skinny paperback, but such a wallop.
I’m looking forward to finding out what she’s like without the Admin hat, if as I suspect she comes back as Private TubaDiva, with faded patches where the sergeant’s stripes were.
While I think Tuba may have shown an error in judgement, I truly believe she had the best of intentions. And who among us hasn’t stepped into it up to his or her eyeballs while trying to do something with a pure heart?
I’ve exchanged a few e-mails with her and have always found her to be a class act.
We may not say it enough, but I stand in awe of her skill and expertise in keeping us Dopers in line.
I don’t frequent MPSIMS too much, but I’m glad I saw this thread. I wanted to voice my support for TubaDiva as well. She is a large part of what makes the SDMB great. I look forward to her return.
Can’t wait to have her back. And it’s good to know that the nay-sayers aren’t the only ones voicing an opinion- I’d hate to see anyone railroaded because of one especially vocal group to the detriment of us all.
I made a mistake once, and Tuba smacked me for it. When I explained and apologised, she forgave me. Quite kindly, too. Let those who are without sin, and all that.
In my six years here (I was McKenna before the Winter of Our Missed Content), I’ve rarely needed a smackdown, but when I have, TD’s the only one who can do it without making me feel like I’ve been whacked in the back of the head with a 2x4. It may be a drive by, but you can hear her car blocks away.
By which I mean she’s reasonable, polite, and firm. You get the feeling she’s given you the benefit of the doubt.
