Season 3 premieres on Sunday. Or you can watch now on ShowtimeOnDemand.
Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn are still dead. Rats.
Spoilers (I guess) below:
Henry VIII marries Jane Seymour (the actress from last season has been replaced) and Cromwell is feeling the heat following a Catholic uprising.
Henry’s charm and good mood are pretty much gone. (And, no, Jonathyn Rhys-Myers didn’t get fat for the role. Bah.) Jane is portrayed as a unifier and pacifier, urging Henry to reconcile with his daughter, Mary. This happens but only after she concedes and signs a document recognizing the invalidity of her mother’s marriage to Henry (and thus her own illegitimacy).
Jane secretly ensures that the former Princess Elizabeth is cared for. She restores Anne’s brother’s widow place at Court and makes her the principal lady-in-waiting. She’s not yet pregnant in the first episode, to the chagrin of Henry.
Henry’s mood is finally softened a bit upon seeing his long-lost daughter.

He didn’t get red-headed either- and as a ginger- I’m pretty upset about that :).
But looking forward to the series premiere…any idea of they will stretch this out post-Henry?
I don’t think so. But it appears from the previews that this season will get us through Anne of Cleves, at least.
That would leave Parr and Howard for S. 4.
This series any good? Was pondering netflixin’ the first season?
It’s good the way potato chips are good, in that they are very very bad, but also rather enjoyable.
Are they really going to drag Jane Seymour out for an entire season? Even Jane + Anne of Cleves is only 4 years, when they did the courtship of Anne Boleyn, which took about 8 years, in one season. I bet they also do Catherine Howard this season, leaving Catherine Parr, Henry’s death, and Elizabeth’s ascension for season 4. But I have no idea if this is remotely accurate, if they’ll even do a season 4, or what.
Hi,
I agree, it’s so wicked and probably not even close to historically accurate, but it is addicting. I will miss Anne though- and I thought they handled her last days pretty well. I hope they do continue until Bloody Mary’s reign and then end with Elizabeth’s ascension. There is still a lot of drama to go, and it’s called The Tudors not Henry VIII so one can hope.
