The Two Popes - thoughts.

It was a movie of three parts, really. The beginning, the end, and the muddle.

Pryce and Hopkins were as good as they could be, for the most part. Particularly good was their dialogue in the garden at Castel Gandalfo and later at the private evening at the Vatican. But it all fell apart when the background story on Bergoglio was being narated by Hopkins in the chapel. Completely unnatural and contrived. Ruined the rest of the movie for me. Just awful. Neither actor can really feel good about the way this was edited or directed.
