The Uncle Who Works For Nintendo

This one popped up on my Facebook feed today. It’s a nice, creepy little text-based horror game with six different endings. It’s not “things jumping out at you” scary, but it’s nicely atmospheric and the sounds are well done. It has a “creepypasta” feel to it.

It takes about 15 minutes to play through completely, and there’s an option to start a little distance into the game for subsequent playthroughs to try to get all the endings. If you get the final (6th) ending there are some interesting (and timely) author’s notes.

Gameplay is slightly different depending on whether you choose a girl or a boy as your friend.

Pretty cool little game! I got all 5 listed endings, but in separate browser sessions. Do you have to get all 5 in one session to get the hidden 6th ending?

Aha, just replayed the whole thing in one session (it gets easier the more you play it). I compiled the Author’s Notes that only appear after playing through the hidden 6th ending. The author has good things to say–both about the gaming industry and his personal creative process. Since not everyone who tries the game will have the patience to achieve all the endings in a single sitting, I uploaded his notes (in PDF form) into a Google drive:

**If this isn’t OK with the mods, it’s ok to remove the link from this post. In that case, anyone who wants the author’s notes: feel free to PM me.

I just assumed this thread would be about people claiming this as kids. They’d use it to claim the most ridiculous easter eggs in games.

I can’t get it to load, even with Adblock off.

Yeah, that was the inspiration for the game. It’s about a kid who goes to stay with a friend who claims to have an uncle who works for Nintendo. And the “uncle” ends up being rather sinister…

Not sure what to tell you…I just tried it and it loaded fine. You need to have JavaScript enabled to run it, though–maybe that’s the problem?

Pretty amazing. I can’t stop playing, even though I technically “won.”

Some questions…What was up with the lemonade/beer thing with the dad? Also, I still never saw a reference to suicide…

Presumably your friend asked the “uncle” at one point to rewrite history so that daddy doesn’t drink.

That was fun, though I’m missing one of the solutions (I did get the 6th one though). Nice notes at the end.
