The United States needs to stick to its own business

Mr. President,

The United States is has budgeted $399.1 billion dollars defense, has 100,000 troops in Asia, 100,000 in Europe and 17 billion in International Assistance Programs. This does not include US troops deployed in places such as Bosnia or Iraq. My question to you is, why? Why do we have United States troops deployed in other nations? Is there some point to this beyond when most of the world does nothing but rant about our imperialism and hate us?

I beg you, bring our troops home and stop giving out foreign aid. The United States needs to return to the pre-WWII days. Due to the current anti-United States climate, a policy of isolationism is our best strategy for rebuilding our economy and keeping our troops from getting killed in lost causes overseas. We need to immediately withdraw our troops from Europe and Asia, forget the joke which is the Middle East Peace Plan and return Iraq to whoever wants it (and whoever that is, I could care less). Let’s just sent a message to everyone outside the United States saying we are sorry, we learned our lesson and we won’t meddle in the affairs of others anymore. The Middle East, Bosnia, Europe, Asia, it’s all none of our business.

Why do we care if China invades Taiwan or if India and Pakistan destroy each other? Let the Europeans solve the Bosnia problem and bring our troops home. Obviously Iraq was a big mistake and we need to get the hell out of there. Give them the $49 billion you got from Congress, say your sorry and bring our troops home. The UN seems like nothing more than an anti-American group these days so let’s drop that too. In fact, kick them out of New York with the message, “It’s been nice but we need the space for a new Wal-Mart”.

Let’s follow a policy of America for Americans damnit! The rest of the world will be better off without us interfering in their affairs, our aid dollars can help our own people and not be wasted on people who hate us anyway and our troops won’t die in countries where the people hate them and want them to leave. Stop the insanity and stop trying to save the world.

We should sit out the next world war. As has been posted in another thread, we came in at the end of the last one and were lucky enough to have Canada and Australia save us. The next time Europe starts a new World War, we can send polite notes to each nation that we wish we could help but we learned our lesson.

Please, I beg you, before it is too late.

Canada and Australia saved us?

Dude, pull your head out of your ass and crack a fucking history book.

Let’s just pretend there is no global economy?

Huh. I thought John Brich was dead.

Man, the US gets knocked for not being able to stop genocides in Rwanda and the Balkans, but when they do go out and try to do good, they’re totally dissed.

I ain’t saying what’s right and wrong, just saying that it’s sort of a lose/lose situation.

Wasn’t the John Birch Society’s motto “The Long Road?”

Yeah, we can do without cheap consumer electroncs, clothes, cars, etc! Let’s just cut ourself off and build it all ourselves. Never mind that the price of all these things will skyrocket.

Shit, look at the price of beef. We cut out Canadian beef due to Mad Cow fears, and now I see $5 a pound for regular cuts. (Admitedly it’s a little more complicated than that, what with the Atkins diet and decreased domestic beef production, but the loss of Canadian imports made it all worse.)

Yes, and lets just pull out of the Middle East. Forget that we get a large portion of our energy from them. We’ll just use our own reserves! Of course oil prices will skyrocket, thus raising the price of virtualy everything else, as Oil is needed for production, transportation, and all.

You do realize, The Long Road that pre-WWII, the country was in a crippling DEPRESSION, right? Millions out of work, people starving, the economy at a near standstill.

Dumbass.

Gosh darn it all to heck. Can’t even spell his name right.

So much nationalism and me without my jackboots, ain’t that a bitch.

Don’t sweat it ** carrot**. No matter how you spell it, it still comes out Dumbass.

The Long Road doesn’t mention stoping international trade, only foreign military deployment and aid.

I do understand that if the whole world goes to shit (Hitler would have won, communist China takes over all of eastern Asia, your terrorist dictator du jour isn’t defeated, e.g.) so does the US. That is, I don’t agree with The Long Road, but I don’t think that’s what (s)he’s trying to say.

You may be right Bruce, but what do you think the result of pulling out of the ME, or sitting back and watching the destruction of Asia would be?

What do you think the effect of kicking the UN out of the U.S.A would be to world trade?

This quote leads me to beleve Mr. Road IS advocating economic isolationism…

Make of it what you will.

No no, I agree with you but maybe the connection isn’t being made in TLR’s mind. Perhaps that will be corrected by this inevitable pile-on.

Gotcha. For some reason, I doubt we will be hearing from Senor Road again in this thread.

The world is our business.

Really? Why would you not be hearing from me? I said zero, nada, nothing about trade. As for the name calling, you can suck my cock. How’s that? Feel better?

Instead of trying to put some spin on my post trying to distort what I was saying so it supports your idiotic assertions, how about rereading it. The post was very clear about what was wanted. I’ll summarize it since reading comprehension seems to not be one of your strong points, The United States should stop giving out foreign aid and bring our troops home. If you are too fucking stupid to understand that, I’ll make some pretty pictures for you. It said nothing about trade

Have you read this thread? It is claimed that the United States let million of Jews died, came into WWII at the end and was lucky enough to have Canada and Australia help us out.

Have you developed some new theory of economics that has yet to be published? How does having 100,000 troops in Europe and 100,000 troops in Asia keep us from being in a depression? Does fighting in Iraq keep us from slipping into a depression? Until you can show some evidence for your idiotic claim, how about you shove it up your ass.

Wait, let me see, maybe you are claiming that American troops should be used to make sure we keep getting cheap imports. Is that what our troops are being used for, to put Americans out of work?

A perfect example. What does this have to do with the United States? Let them fight it out. Taiwan would probably lose in a week.

Huh. Guess I was wrong. There he is.
All right, I’ll play your stupid game.

What do you think the effect of pulling all troops and aid would be? Do you think the countries we trade with will continue to do so?

How about this. If we pull all the troops out of all those places, and bring them all home, what are we going to do with them? The combined troop strength we have deployed is far beyond what we would need to protect our own borders. What do we do with the excess? Massive troop reductions? Won’t need all those tanks, planes and boats, nor any of the support equipment or personel. Might as well scrap all that. Won’t need any more, so shut down production.

So now we have a huge number of unemployed former troops, and companies who depend on defense contracts shutting down.

Oh yeah. the economy will just bloom!

Dumbass.

What does Taiwan-China have to do with the U.S.? Dude, look at the “Made in…” labels on just about anything, and I guarantee you 90% of it will be Taiwan or China. We have billions of dollars worth of imports coming from each of them.

I think it’s a nice idea you have and in a perfect world, I’d agree with you. The problem is so much of our capability, especially in manufacturing, has been pushed overseas in pursuit of cheap labor that isolationism just isn’t an option. I think there’s stuff that’s just not made in the U.S. anymore, because it’s cheaper to import.

So we need soldiers to die in Iraq so people will have jobs? How many jobs is the life of one soldier worth?

How about we take the 17 billion per year in foreign aid and give a share to everyone who lost a job. Over 500,000 people a year could be supported on that until they found other work. Hell, most would probably get a pay increase from it.

Any excess would go to tax payers, you know, the people who pay the fucking taxes. The people who work all day to have their money pissed away on bullshit like supporting contries that hate the United States. Didn’t Bush give a tax cut saying that it would boost the economy?

Chew on that bitch.
