Howdy Y’all! Dindin got et and I have been in major chill mode. OYKW had a rough day, bless his heart in the good way, so he is abed watchin’ teevee. I’m not quite ready for that yet so I shall play on teh intartoobz for a while.
Bumba try usin’ roasted red bell peppers sometime. 'Tis a killer cheese spread!
Oh, and I did finally get around to makin’ the pimento cheese so I haven’t been all slack.
My mouse decided to die suddenly so I got a new one. It worked for a few minutes, then quit, then my keyboard decided to quit. Irish Storyteller poked around on the computer for an hour and got the new mouse to work but the keyboard remained dead. I’m borrowing Seasonal’s art room keyboard while mine thinks about whether it wants to be run over by a car or not.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 74 and mostly cloudy for the day. It rained some last night as well. My sinuses are achy. Stoopid pollen! Other than the makeage of pimento cheese sammiches, takin’ ‘em to the church house and settin’ up for tonight’s soup ‘n sammich, no big plans for the day. Ben and I may sleep together for a little while this mornin’. ICK!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, well, we shall see.
Up and alert (because America needs the Lerts, don’t’cha know…). Need to dress nicely and take my planning list to the car dealer in a couple hours for my test drive. After rain all day yesterday, today is looking much better, if cooler.
Apparently I wasn’t supposed to come in to work today because it’s the Day Without Women.
Heck with that. I like my paycheck a lot more than I like protesting. Also, if I wasn’t here today I would miss the high drama that’s occurring. Can’t talk about it yet, unfortunately, but be assured it is some* High Drama*.
Frankly, if that happened in my department, there’d be a whole TWO workers present, with no supervisor. I hope there are more adults around than that, so today is actually functional. I just don’t see the point to this particular tizzy. Women in the US who think we have it oh-so-awful really need to look at places in Africa and the Middle East where women don’t even have basic human rights and are routinely mutilated and considered chattel.
It’s bright, it’s N.O.S., and should make it up to 60 today. It felt pretty nice when I opened the door to let the dog out.
It’s supposed to get below freezing again on Saturday, and then stay in the 30s for a bit. Maybe some snow on Firday and Sunday.
Today is grocery day, and I have to remember to pick up my scripts and get gas while I’m out.
Sah-son has Ocean Studies this week. I thought he would, this professor didn’t give them time off for Christmas Break last semester so I figured she wouldn’t give them Spring Break off. He’s a little bummed about not getting the week off, but when he finals week comes, he’ll be glad this class will be over early.
Happy car hunting MetalMouse
Happy sandwich making** Swampy**. I think I have never had a pimento cheese sandwich.
I’m with you Nettie, and like BigKitty, I need my paycheck. I like my job (most days) and I am grateful for it. I know quite a few people who can’t find work.
Also, I have found that I am a lot happier since I started being thankful for what I do have as opposed to bitching about what is missing.
I am glad to offer up my share of pimento cheese to the lot of you, my dear Mumper friends. A taste I never acquired.
Big Kitty, you can tell us! (Unless they’re monitoring your internet. Oh. Uhm. Tell us later, 'kay?)
I’d offer you a bet on whether my kids are up and ready to go to school, but I bet you already know. hangs head
For some reason, I didn’t sleep last night. Fell asleep around 4:30, so I guess I technically did sleep, just not very long. Oh well, I intend to nap as soon as the under-educated have found their way off to the land of learning.
You’d think with a mother from West By God Virginia I’d be more familiar with Southern Cuisine, but growing up I never had grits, nor okra, nor biscuits with gravy. She never even once made fried chicken.
I think she was so damned happy to get off the farm and into the city that she left all the farming ways behind.
However, I have had and do like grits, okra, and biscuits with gravy. Fried chicken is okay, but I’d rather have it baked or grilled.
I was remembering yesterday (I don’t know what reminded me) if how much of a fit she had when I was a kid and wanted to wear jeans. She refused to let me wear blue jeans and bought me jeans that had little flower patterns on them. Once I was old enough to go shopping by myself (12 or 13 back in those days) I bought the jeans I wanted. In her eyes, jeans were for farmers. Then the mini skirt craze started and she decided that jeans were the lesser of two evils.
**sari **- my mom was weird about jeans also. To this day, she calls blue jeans dungarees, and she still thinks of them as manual laborer attire. When I was a teen, I was allowed to have white jeans - I had a pair of white Wranglers - but not blue. So weird that the color would make such a difference!
Almost all of my pants are jeans, but only 2 are blue. The rest include brown, khaki, eggplant, gray, and black. In the past, I’ve also owned green and non-denim blue. Comfort and durability all the way!
Been a busy morning. If it’s warm enough out, I’ll walk before lunch. We shall see…
