More likely we’ll kick them out.
Will likely go with alacrity.
45/47 has had his landlord and developers eye on 405 East 42nd Street, New York for years. Might well seek to get it via vacant possession.
Oh Lordy. Here from CNN:
https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/venezuela-explosions-caracas-intl-hnk-01-03-26
It’s one of CNN’s “constantly updating” stories, so things move in it. Regardless, look for “Trump says US has struck Venezuela, and Maduro has been removed from country.”
Confirmation from other sources?
It’s all over the media.
This is unacceptable. Trump is not a legitimate president and must be immediately removed from office by Congress.
The rest of the world must boycott the World Cup and the Olympics and issue sanctions against us because we are now a rogue nation and an existential threat to the world order.
How’s that “I only want to be a dictator for one day” thingy working out?
Yes, but we are Dopers. We require plenty of reputable sources.
@Princhester, you are most assuredly a reputable Doper who posts reputable sources, so no disrespect meant. I would like to see, however, a lot of reputable sources being cited; not only American MSM, but also international: BBC, CBC, CTV, ABC (Australia), plus news services: UPI, AP, CP, etc.
The USA engaging in forcible regime change is not new at all. I’m not supporting it at all, but that’s the reality.
I challenge you to find a media source that is currently not reporting this. Not much point in me specifically pointing out the sand when we are standing in the Sahara.
Fair enough. Like I said, I meant no doubt nor disrespect with my post. Thanks for the tip; I’ll get searching.
Couldn’t agree more. Never going to happen though because $$$$$$$$$$$$$
An utterly unconstrained and lawless regime. Just stunning.
“Yeah, but Putin can do the same thing!”
Mr. Trump, the US is, and always has been, better than the USSR—er, Russia.
And of course, Trump has now given Putin carte blanche to kidnap Zelenskyy or any other head of state he doesn’t care for, or for Kim Jong-Un to kidnap the leaders of South Korea, or for Bibi to take Arab presidents or kings hostage.
Because America does it too.
Thanks to people like Putin and Trump, I believe we are seeing the end of the era where anyone even pretended to take international laws and rules seriously. We are moving into a period where all that will matter is what you have the power to do, not any sort of rules.
They are just too arrogant and stupid to see how the same applies to them. If Trump can kidnap a foreign leader, then a foreign government can kill him with a large bomb.
I have never seen such a big font on top of the New York Times’ website:
U.S. CAPTURES MADURO, TRUMP SAYS
President Trump announced that U.S. forces had carried out “a large scale strike against Venezuela” and were flying President Nicolás Maduro and his wife out of the country. The Trump administration had been building pressure on Mr. Maduro for months.
I bet Putin knew. That is the reason he announced that Ukraine had bombed his residence. He thus legitimated trumps attack on Maduro in advance. And it gives him an excuse to keep on trying to kill or kidnap Zelensky.
I must have missed the memo about Russia being kicked out of the UN when they did this a thousand times over in Ukraine.
…by Venezuela?
Every day is Day One of the rest of the dictatorship.
You think either of those guys need an excuse to kidnap their enemies? They’d both have gladly done it if it was within their capacity to do so, and doing so remains as far outside of their capacity today as it was a week ago or a year ago.
Why would Bibi want to take an Arab president or king hostage? What Arab country is Bibi at war with?
…what period was that?
