The Voice of God

Helen Mirren.

James Mason. (Thanks Eddie).

Elmer Fudd (or Barney Frank)

George Carlin

Homer Simpson

Mel Brooks.

It’s possible I should talk to someone about that.

George London.

In case I didn’t do the link correctly, the singing begins at about 0:50. (I think I did the right thing to get the youtube link to go straight to that time…)

I can’t believe you didn’t put Morgan Freeman on the poll.

Someone else…I have a distinct idea of what Krishna’s voice should sound like. Very calm, slightly amused, very intelligent. Distinctive.

Christopher Walken.

James Earl Jones.

James Earl Jones as Darth Vader.

:whoosh whoosh:
"Jesus, I am your father…
:whoosh whoosh:

Charlton Heston.

God would sound like Morbo: “Kittens give Morbo gas!" - also you get the throbbing veins on he forehead as he speaks.

This.

Something like Bruce Meyers in the Peter Brook 'Mahabharata? (I loved this production!)

James Earl Jones.

(Morgan Freeman is the poor man’s James Earl Jones).

Oh crap. I clicked before reading the thread, but this is the correct answer:

I think the voice doesn’t have a sound; it speaks directly to your heart and mind. But if I had to put a human voice to it I would like it to be something like Linda Ellerbee; direct and warm at the same time.

I’m fond of the brusque, cranky God in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as voiced by Graham Chapman.

(So I’m afraid I have to vote for “Somebody Else”, which is polling big at the moment.)
