The Voice Season 10

My top three performances from last night are Alison, Hannah, and Shalyah.

My predictions for the final four** would include Adam.

** or is it final three? If three, then I’d go with Alison, Shalyah, and Adam.

Everybody did a great job last. I liked nearly every song.

Adam Wakefield did a very good cover of the Allman Brothers Soulshine. Been awhile since I’d heard that.

Mary Sarah did much better this week. She struggled a bit with the range in Carrie Underwood’s So Small. I’m reluctantly beginning to accept that she probably won’t make the top 3. She’s good but the talent this season is awesome.

Laith Al-Saadi growled and shredded his way through another performance. That guy seems a bit one note to me. Born Under a Bad Sign is pretty much what I’d expect him to cover. He’s probably performed it a few dozen times. What he sings is good but he’s not improving or stretching his repertoire at all. He’s the same bar singer we saw in the blinds.

Alisan Porter nailed another performance. I wasn’t familiar with Demi Lovato’s Stone Cold and don’t know how faithfully Alisan covered it. Alisan makes singing these covers look too easy…I wonder if thats going to cost her votes?

Hannah Huston did a very nice job covering Etta James’s Something’s Got a Hold on Me. My favorite of the night. I totally forgot about Hannah. She may slip into the top three or four. I need to check youtube and watch her other performances. I haven’t paid enough attention to her this season.

I got reminded why I dislike result shows. An entire hour of my life wasted for one stinking elimination. :dubious: talk about total bs

Much as I disliked wasting my time with filler. Think how the 12 singers felt. Being dragged through all that stress on live tv just to see 1 person sent home.

so long Emily Keener

  this recap is spot on.

I took a little nap and accidentally slept through the show, but I heard that Emily went home.

I’m a little surprised because while I thought she gave the worse performance of the night I wasn’t sure the rest of America agreed.

I’m nervous about making any predictions, but what the hell. I think that Laith and Paxton will be the next two to go.

Last night a Blazer’s game ran instead of The Voice, but Dish showed that it would run at 2:30am. So at 6:00pm today I decided to watch the competition before watching tonight’s results show. Turns out the local NBC affiliate played their normal shows from 2:30 to 4:30, even though the info button showed it was supposed to be The Voice.

So I’ll see who gets eliminated, but I’ll have to watch last night’s on line to see if they deserve it or not.

Top Ten

no Afternoon Delight for Owen.

I didn’t see the show Monday. But saw most of the performances on youtube. Not much changed. The front runners have been pretty consistent all season.

Have they said what the next elimination will be? I’d guess they’ll chop 4 or 5 pretty soon. But I haven’t heard. usually they only have 4 at the most in the finals.

I hope we don’t end up with a coach without a singer in the final. That’s always awkward.

Since about last week Shalyah has starting growing on me.

Daniel Passino I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, messed up badly. He’s probably toast.
I wasn’t impressed with I Can’t Help It’s I Can’t Help It either.

A few favorites of mine were
Laith Al-Saadi Thrill Is Gone
Mary Sarah Stand By Your Man
Paxton Ingram It’s All Coming Back to Me Now
Adam Wakefield I Got a Woman

Paxton has really improved and I can see why Blake saved him a couple times.

Hannah Huston did ok but I just wasn’t impressed with her version of Rolling in the Deep. It seemed thin and just not as full a performance as Adele. Same goes for Alisan Porter, I just didn’t like the song she choose.

I wonder if the show will need a rule change next season? Laith presents a real problem. He’s using his guitar licks more than his voice. That’s fine if the show wants to find the best performer. But supposedly this show is looking for The Voice. There’s a lot of people that might audition if they could use their piano or guitar skills to win votes and reach the finals. But that’s going to be a much different show than what we’ve been watching.

Paxton just finished (west coast time). Early on I didn’t like him, but I think he’s been getting better and better as the show goes on.

Yeah, so far that’s my least favorite performance.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Although I don’t blame her entirely. Adele did so damn good that it’s almost impossible to match her singing. Frankly I think very few artists should try to cover it.

Laith did a good job, but I think it was mentioned before that he’s peaked. His singing isn’t getting any better, and his guitar might be a crutch.

I didn’t think about him using his guitar more than his voice, but next week he should have to do a song without the guitar.

Adele has such a rich and full voice. I’m not sure there was anything Hannah Huston could have done differently to make her cover as good. It’s just a difference in their voices.

That was a really good episode.

I pick Daniel for least favorite performance because:

  1. He took a rock ballad and made it pop.
  2. He didn’t do a very good job of it.

Although, to be honest, I didn’t think it was terrible, just so so.

I’m positive that Adam and Alisan will make it to the finals. I’m not sure who the third singer will be.

Speaking of Adam; I’m not familiar with “I’ve Got a Woman” but when I heard it I had an ah-ha moment and felt stupid when I realized that must have the song Mark Knopfler mentioned in the Dire Straits song “Walk of Life” :smack:

A few seconds into Daniel’s half-assed performance and I knew he was going home. In fact when the cut to Pharrell watching him the expression on his face looked like, “Yup, my guy’s going home.” And then when Pharrell commented on Daniel’s performance he didn’t hide the fact he knew that Daniel was going home.

Daniel was way in over his head with that song choice. He had a good run. Even getting a 2nd chance to come back from home.

I wonder if Shalyah Fearing goes next? I just haven’t gotten into any of her performances. It may be time for her exit.

Blake and Gwen will be debuting his new song next week. They cowrote it together for Blake’s new album.

Bryan Bautista is my other pick to go very soon. He’s done pretty well but I don’t see him making it past the top six or seven.

Gwen seems to be pretty versatile.

Man, they sure botched the sound mix on Blake and Gwen’s song. I could barely hear her when she was harmonizing with him. Turn up her mic. :smack: I liked the song and look forward to hearing the studio recording. Hopefully Gwen will be easier to hear during the harmony.

Laith had a break out performance tonight. I’ve been hoping he’d do a ballad and sing (instead of growl). Did a very nice job with Bob Seger’s song, We’ve Got Tonight. I plan to buy that from ITunes.

i hate to see that Pharrell only has one artist remaining. It’s awkward whenever a coach has to sit there without anybody. I’m not sure his artist will last much longer.

Adam Wakefeld did really well with Bonnie Raitt’s Love Has No Pride. My favorite cover that Adam’s done so far.

Alisan Porter had an off night. Didn’t like her Aerosmith cover.

Overall a good night’s music.

Where I’m at Hannah recently sang. And I’m worried that she’ll be on the bottom tomorrow.

I totally agree.

I’ve liked his other performances better, but I agree he did really well.

I found two things I didn’t like. One was her enunciation, and the other was (at Christina’s insistence) holding out the one note really long. For me it didn’t enhance the song, it just annoyed me. But I think she’ll make it through.

Yeah, although the first three performances were kind of so-so to me, but I thought it picked up after that.

I thought that Bryan had the best performance of the night and Shalyah had the second best.

At first I wasn’t crazy about Paxton’s singing style, but once I put aside my personal biases I enjoyed his performance.

Mary did OK, but to me the last two or three weeks she hasn’t been as good as she was early on.
