Secrets, secrets, what secrets will be revealed? How will the gang react to Hershel’s barn full of zombies? And will the little girl somehow turn out to be one of the zombies in the barn?
Well, they titled it right. Pretty much every secret came out, some several times over.
I did like Dale playing the elder statesman but not much interested me in this one.
Andrea can’t hit a log at ten feet but turns around and nails 5 head shots in a row, all through the power of getting a mean look on her face. They were going to go through every house instead of honking the horn and yelling “Sophie!?!?”
This was more like it, less interpersonal whiny crap and more Zombie-Killin’…
Nice to see a somewhat realistic portrayal of firearms training for novices, and absolutely LOVED T-Dog telling BarnyardBoy to “stop with that gangsta shit” sideways-hold, which is a screamingly obvious sign of an utter idiot behind the trigger, “Gangsta’-grippin” a gun is rightfully looked down on with disdain by anyone with actual trigger-time on a handgun, only idiots do it
Still think Andrea is too unstable to be safe with a firearm, did like how Shane forced her to deal with both close-range threats and firearm malfunctions, and hopefully broke her fear/uneasiness with firearms
as far as the increasingly tedious Lori pregnancy thread goes, did she count the number of pills she horked back up, or are there a couple RU-486’s merrily dissolving away in her stomach, ready to do their work and solve the pregnancy issue once and for all
and as far as Andrea and Shane goes, do we really need to have to deal with two pregnancies in the Survivor group? (assuming Shane gets her pregnant as well)
Wonder if Maggie would leave with the survivor group (and Glenn) if they have to leave, she seems to be swinging back towards liking him again, what with him saving her life and all…
Herschel seems as deluded as ever about the whole Zombie thing, yes, those may be the reanimated corpses of his wife and son-in-law in the barn, but generally, “sick” people don’t show the level of decomposition that the walkers in Barn Depot do, even as a veterinarian, he should realize that vast areas of necrotized tissue on any animal is generally a bad thing and something that the animal doesn’t generally recover from…
Maggie’s close encounter might bring her around. Her reaction makes me wonder how many of Herschel’s people have seen Walkers in action.
I liked Lorie’s character a bit better this week. Her concern about the baby crying at the wrong time shows that she’s more realistic about the situation than Rick, with his “We can do this.” There’s no “we” when she goes into labor, like she said, maybe in a ditch somewhere.
Glad she told Rick about Shane, and if the good sense continues, they’ll tell Shane (and everyone else) about the baby, and they’ll tell Shane that Rick knows about their relationship. Get it out in the open, focus on survival.
What is a “Mid-Season Finale”?
BSG did this a couple of times: split the shows for a full length season into two half-seasons.
I’m not sure whether the intent is to force demand a la artificial scarcity (like the McRib) or to annoy the viewers.
Good to see Andrea getting some traction. Sick to death of the Never Ending Sophie Saga.
Gah. By the time you get a positive pregnancy test a Morning After Pill won’t do shit. Morons.
Any side effects if you take a whole pack of Morning-After pills?
Aren’t there two pills – the morning after pill and RU-486, the “abortion pill”?
Two stages for “Plan B”:
First, a hormonal “spike” to screw up the uterine lining
Second, a drug to induce shedding and expulsion
the morning after pill is just a strong dosage of birth control; it would not cause an abortion. Taking THAT many pills woulda made her sick perhaps but I bet that if her low calorie diet doesn’t cause a miscarriage, this sure wouldn’t.
I should say, it would not cause abortion at any different rate than that of normal birth control which has an extremely low risk.
It’s true that the morning after pill wouldn’t cause an abortion, but I think she was probably thinking that with her levels of stress and her poor diet, it would likely trigger a miscarriage. Of course, I don’t think most people know the intricacies of “Plan B” vs. “RU-486.”
It looked to me as if there was a moment after she vomited that she was checking the grass, as if she was counting the number of pills.
Herschel is getting my last nerve - he can’t possibly believe that there’s any hope that those people are going to recovery. And I plan to use that clip with him and Dale in the barn in my Abnormal Psychology class, as an example of the media perpetuation that the mentally ill are dangerous and how subtle and insidious that is.
I liked it (but I am an uncritical zombie fan). Maggie getting attacked might get her to think a little more about whether or not the walkers in the barn are actually “Mom,” and all the other people she mentioned. Glenn might start to get a spine and some balls, and become more than the go-to guy for all things stupid and dangerous.
I can’t figure out if Rick actually did know all along about Lori and Shane, or just was able to very quickly recognize and accept the reality of what had happened and why (“You thought I was dead, and the world went to hell.”)
I’m totally with Maggie on the “Go do your own damned shopping in Zombietown!” smackdown to Lori.
Would flies still be on a corpse several months after they’ve died?
While I still think it’s stupid to keep zombies in your barn I can at least stretch my mind to sort of understand why somebody else might think it’s a good idea. However, feeding them chickens is just stupid by anybody’s standards. It’s not like they have to eat to stay alive. And while I’ve no problem with killing chickens for food, breaking their legs is just cruel.
I’m beginning to think that Sophie will be brought back by Dale in a Santa suit. Everybody will rejoice in seeing her, then Dale will come out of the RV and as they say “But who was that in the…” and they’ll hear sleigh bells. Or else in some other way that makes you give less of a crap at this stage.
Finally. Important and advancing story and plot points. Finally a drama, perhaps two episodic and cinematographic shows too late. This shit has been long time coming, and finally effective from the story telling side. Very important episode… perhaps more akin to the comic in resolution. I still think they made a huge mistake in getting rid of Darabont, even after this tie up, they are lacking in the second season.
Yech.
This show gets multiple pages of discussion, every week, but Boardwalk Empire threads fall off the first page within hours. It’s baffling.
But I can’t stop watching. I have this fascination with Zombie-themed movies and TV shows. I should be watching Wheel of Fortune with the rest of the people in my age bracket. What’s wrong with me!?
I’m only watching Hell on Wheels so I can see another ad for WD.
I’d laugh if Sophie is just too scared to come back cause she saw Shane off Otis and thinks she’ll go the same way.
I was expecting to find out Rick had a vasectomy, but he would have mentioned that right? Or something?
I was worried there might be a Walker in the pharmacy, heard Maggie’s boots and thought any Walker would make a similar amount of noise.
Those housing development Walkers were fast! That one went for under the garage door at record speed and the aerial shot over Andrea showed a couple that seemed to be moving at normal living speed.
No matter what happens, I’m enjoying this too much to stop watching.
Jon Bernthal (the guy playing Shane) is OWNING that character. Yikes! Sleep with one eye open even more these days, Dale. I’m leaning towards “evil” for Shane, but you gotta admit, he’s a survivor.
Andrea and the crotch-grab - holey moley! And they say romance is dead!
I looked up RU-486 out of curiosity - up to seven weeks after conception, so it looks like she got the right stuff.
Best brain blowing zombie love scene I have ever seen. after Glen and his wimmens.
Nope. I was paying very close attention to the packets and they clearly said “Morning after pill”. Of course, this show does take place in Georgia where sex education might be bad enough that no one knows the difference between RU-486 and the MAP…
