Herschel went all God Mode with his shotgun. I think they suddenly remembered at the end that he hadn’t reloaded.
I wish the dialogue wasn’t so clunky. Rick is Rick, then all of a sudden he decides to be Shane.

Okay, so Dracula’s Castle is a prison, and they’re right next to it. Are our intrepid gang of adventurers going to be captives next season?
Do you really wanna know?
And that was the best intro I’ve seen in a looooooooong time! I actually have hope for the show now.
Armless zombie minions:
Zeunuchs.
mmm
She has really bad pregnancy mood swings.
Nah, God mode is iddqd. Hershel went idkfa, though he didn’t really need the k.
To quote Chris Hardwick, yeah, everyone needs to get off Rick’s sack! No, this is not a democracy - you’re welcome to leave, but not keep on second-guessing him. Groups need leaders; no, let me re-phrase that - groups NEED leaders.
I don’t think any of our heroes missed a single zombie head.
Herschel was even firing from his gut for awhile, presumably aiming with his belly button.
mmm
Rick has become the man Shane wanted him to be. I’m thinking he’s in shock from having to kill Shane.
Interesting to find out why the ninja is hauling two zombies along with him.
Carol is right - she is a burden. Where the hell was she running to on the farm? If Andrea had died, a lot blame right there. Plus, Carol is starting to channel Lori’s lesser nature (not that she has much of a better one) - trying to get Daryl to break off from the group.
So, the hooded figure with the armless zombie minions was Michonne, eh?
So Rick, the law enforcement agent, and Herschel, the local farmer, had no idea there was a big ass mutherfuckin’ penitentiary just down the road? Ooookay.
The kid playing Carl is one of the worst young actors I’ve seen in a while.
I called Jimmy and the other daughter to get killed right from the beginning of the ep. Why? Because they all but wore red Star Trek uniforms.
The zombies don’t set up shop so why not double back to the farm to see if anything could be scavenged?
Again with the day/night/day transition in the story that fit no timeline whatsoever.
And yet, all that being said… Michonne!!! Thank fuck.
I almost changed the channel several times. When Rick set fire to the barn, when Jimmie didn’t keep the Winnebago moving (did he actually open the door for Rick and Carl?), when Maggie wanted to go back to the farm to look for her dad, when Herschel told Rick he had to take Carl “somewhere safe” (where would that be?), when Lori turned on Rick (so what if your son had to put Shane down – Carl would have been next, you dumb bitch!) and when it looked like Rick was going to let Carl give orders. “You’re fucking 12 years old! Shut the fuck up and do what you’re told!”
I hope they get some new writers next season.
Scavenged, hell. The zombies moved on - it’s possibly the safest place in the area (at least until another wave comes though).
nah, Michonne was one of the reasons I stopped reading the comics. From this point on, if they tread too closely to the comics then I’m done with the series.
Fucking Michonne. Shit just got real y’all. Seriously though, that part was well done. And I finally get to learn how her name is pronounced.
As for Lori, I am pretty sure she’s written by six different writers, none of whom speak the same language, and only one of whom is aware he’s writing for a tv show. They’ve just fucked that character up. “Shane is psycho. He killed Otis . . . you killed Shane? You bastard!”
I liked the opening sequence starting with the zombies in the city.
The farm invasion was fun, but yes a lot of it was stupid–Jimmy’s death in particular.
I was getting VERY worried that they were going to kill Andrea. I whooped when Michonne showed up and saved her.
Lori needs to die.
I’m glad Hershel made it. I figured if they were going to kill one of the major characters, it would be him.
I liked the way they ended the season basically back where they started it - at the traffic jam on the highway. This whole season was a cul-de-sac on Herschel’s farm, and now they’re back on the road again.
If Michione isn’t the black guy from the beginning of the series - can the people with comics knowledge settle down a bit on semi-spoilers?
Well, I’m not a comic reader, but from watching The Talking Dead, I can tell you that Michonne is…
very, very minor:
female.
I’ve kept a timeline and posted it a couple times in various threads. I finally updated the second half of season two, so here it is, up-to-date until Season 3 starts.
Season 1
Episode 101 - Rick meets Morgan and his son and his son’s shovel.
Day 1 - (This is where I start the timeline because it’s impossible to know how long Rick stayed at Morgan’s, although there is evidence that it was only one night)
(Still Episode 101)They go out, check Rick’s house, go to police station, part ways. Rick runs out of gas, rides the horse into Atlanta, gets stuck in tank.
Episode 102 - Rick is in the tank, meets the group, escapes Atlanta.
Episode 103 - they get back to campsite and he meets his wife, spend the night.
Day 2
(still Episode 103) Daryl returns. They went back to town, found Daryl’s brother’s hand.
Episode 104 - they got the bag of guns, met the Vatos and came back mid zombie attack.
Day 3
Episode 105 -They bury their dead, Jim starts to get sick. They talk about going to the CDC. Shane tells the group that they’ll leave first thing in the morning. (I didn’t have this in my earliest timeline, so it was one day off.) The next scene is them leaving and looks like it was shot at the same time, but we’ll assume Shane was correct and they left the next day.
Day 4
Still episode 105. They are wearing different clothes so assume they left the next day like Shane said. Although Atlanta is within sight of the camp, they don’t reach the CDC until dark. Episode ends with the door opening.
Day 5
Episode 106 - They enter the CDC, meet Jenner, spend one night there, it blows up.
Season 2
Day 7
Episode 201 - Season 2 starts out with Rick talking into the radio to Morgan and he says they lost another one of their group the “day before last. It was her choice…” which indicates the black lady who opted to stay with Jenner and be blown to bits at the CDC on day 5. Shortly after getting stuck in traffic, Sophia goes missing. They look but give up at dark.
Day 8
Episode 202 - The next day they find the church, Carl is shot, Shane/Otis go to the school that night.
Episode 203 - Escape from the school and return to the farm the same night.
Day 9
Episode 204 - Otis memorial in morning, Hershel asks how long Sophia has been missing, rick says “This’ll be day three.” People are setting up tents. Daryl searching for Sophia, Glen nearly getting done by a zombie in the well, ends up getting done by Maggie instead. Episode ends at night to the sounds of crickets and Rick’s wife peeing.
Day 10
Episode 205 starts with Lori waking up as others plan the Sophia search. Daryl says he’s going to borrow a horse. Daryl falls down ravine a couple of times, gets shot by Andrea, everyone meets for dinner, Glenn goes to the barn to meet Maggie, finds zombies instead.
Day 11
Episode 206 - The second scene starts out with Glenn asking Maggie what’s up with the barn of zombies and Glenn gets real skittish when T-Dog greets him with “What’s up?” “N-n-nothing’s up.” Daryl is in bed and still bloody, Andreas apologizes for shooting him. Glenn tells Dale about the barn, Dale talks to Hershel. Glen gets abortion pills, Lori takes them, barfs, episode ends with her and Rick having an evening talk about babies and Shane.
Day 12
Episode 207 opens with Glenn interrupting breakfast to tell everyone about the barn. When they go look at it, Dale speaks up and says he talked to Hershel yesterday and that he thought they could survive one more night without knowing about the barn. Episode ends with Sohpia taking one in the head.
Episode 208 - same day. Everyone has post-barn shock. Hershel goes drinkin’, episode ends with Rick shooting the jerks.
Day 13
Episode 209 - this episode covers the night of the 12th and ends the next morning when they return with Randall.
Day 20
Episode 210 - This is the day they attempt to leave Randall at the place with the buses. Rick tells Shane he wants to talk “Been waitin’ a week until we were gonna do this.” Maybe it was 5 days or maybe it was 9 days, but I have to assume it was 7 exactly.
Day 21
Episode 211 - this has to be the next morning because everyone is asking what they’re going to do with Randall over breakfast (Lori, Andrea, Glenn all ask what the plan with Randall is). They debate all day about killing him. That night, Dale gets eaten.
Day 22
Episode 212 - Memorial for Dale in the morning, some farm work (pitchforking zombies). Shane kills Randall and Rick kills Shane that night. (Some have said this covered more than one day but everyone wears the same clothes that they had on in the Memorial)
Day 23
Episode 213 - The Battle of Hershel’s Farm at night, meet on the road in the morning and end in the evening around the fire.
