Well I’d assume those wheels would make a decent amount of noise along the asphalt on the road. So maybe it was just to keep the noise down and avoid trouble. I was glad to see bags in the playpen though. I was going to get pissed if they brought back that but nothing else, as there clearly would be many things they could get from a nursery.
Without giving spoilers, the “has lost all sense of hope” is why I generally much prefer this series to the graphic novels its based on and to most other zombie movies. The series usually has more of an “I can see some reason not to cover myself in mayonaisse and say 'Come and get it!” to the Walkers. This episode less so due to Rick’s mental problems and Morgan’s insanity and aloneness of course, but I really hope they show something remotely hopeful soon.
It occurs that if the cast ever wanted too much money and the showrunners decided to take a major departure from the comics and flash ahead 20 years to adult Carl’s adventures, it really wouldn’t require much different sets; it’s not likely the technology would have changed much.
They are Kentuckians in the comic. The series changed this to (fictional) King County, Georgia.
We know he has heavy equipment. Remember the vehicles they took when they ambushed the soldiers?
I remember a couple of trucks.
I completely missed that. Oh well.
Generally speaking, this episode was definitely better but I’m still pretty critical of the writing. They stretched out Morgan being unconscious forever, seemingly just to fill the episode. I’m not sure if that was to save money on filming scenes, they didn’t want to write other scenes, they thought it was dramatic, or what.
He got hit in the chest while wearing a vest and then Rick, Carl, and Michonne dithered over him while he remained unconscious for quite a while instead of anything actually happening. Would that type of wound even knock someone out, let alone for that long? I don’t think so. It was bruised ribs, not a blow to the head!
No matter if you care about that small nitpick, they could have accomplished all that dialogue between Rick, Carl, and Michonne in a much shorter time and it would have been less boring and repetitive.
What more do they need? The prison just has chain link fences. After they’re through those, they just need to bust open a door or two.
It probably doesn’t matter. They foreshadowed that Tyreese will tell the Governor how he and his group got into the prison, so I bet we’ll see that the Governor’s people sneak in the back way at the same time another group feints a frontal assault. Tyreese told Rick’s group how they got in the back way, then the last we saw the Governor was asking Tyreese what he knew about the prison.
Edit: By the way, it looked like a Humvee (with a mounted gun), a supply-type truck, and some other heavy truck-sized vehicle pulling a trailer.
Why bother picking up a healthy male who could help them fight off the Woodbury army?
Maybe is car just broke down.
Never know what’s in it until you open it.
See I just assumed they grabed the floor model, but your idea makes alot of sense.
Tyreese and company were walking also - so at this point (is it about a year from the start?) working vehicles with gas in them may be hard to find. Of course, Rick and company tend to drive around like the local filling station is still operating, so maybe that’s not a problem.

The box is probably easier to put in a hatchback. Plus, the floor model often doesn’t have as long a warranty.
Loved the episode. I’m thinking that the attack on Woodbury goes down like this:
Daryl and Merle approach from the south end with “Michonned” Zombies as cover. They crossbow the people on the walls. Slick Rick and Glenn lob a few grenades over the north end. In the confusion, Michonne slips into the Guvner’s suite where she chick fights Andrea before slicing the Guv’s head off.
BTW: Rick needs to use that “punji” stick trick back at the prison. It would cut down on the bullets used.
All the governor has to do is siege the prison, they don’t have enough food in there.
Holy shit, an episode with some decent acting! Other than Daryl, most of these people are off some agent’s B listings. Gotta love the Hyundai getting stuck in two inches of mud; good vehicle choice, people.
I personally wanted it to stay a mystery. One problem with the show is the that the “world” seems so tiny:
- Rick was able to reunite with his family in a few days, when he had no idea where they were
- Randall, the guy they pulled off a fence, happened to know Maggie
- Andrea happens to settle down in a town a few miles from her old group and see them again
- Rick ran into Morgan again despite no contact between them
- Merle happens to settle down in a town a few miles from his old group and see them again
It seems to me like part of the horror of the apocalypse is that once someone leaves your sight, you might never see them again, communications technology being largely gone, and constant danger keeping people on the move and all. People would just come into and out of your life.
If the Morales family shows up again, I’m throwing a penalty flag.
They badly need an outside perspective to convince them to abandon the prison. That could have been Tyreese, if his group hadn’t been run off.
They have at least one M2 .50-caliber machine gun, if they have ammunition for it, it can do a lot of damage to reinforced concrete.
Uhhhh Might want to get that flag ready. I’ve heard that they just might show up again. I can’t remember where I heard/read it but I seem to recall it was through someone associated with the show.
Rick got shot in the vest in the first episode, and it just knocked him on his ass. Then he was fucking around going all “IM OKAY” when he got shot for realsies.
BUT… he didn’t get shot at point blank the way Carl shot Morgan.
They don’t really need bullets at all except for emergencies or against humans like Woodbury. They’ve been shown using plenty of blunt and sharp melee objects against walkers, quite effectively, and that was BEFORE they had Lady McNinjasword on the team.
Bullets are bad anyway, since the noise draws walkers.
BTW, I have no idea on how to rate tonights Mad Men, since I don’t watch the show but also don’t believe one aired either.
I had almost given up on this show. The entire Woodbury plotline has bored me to death and I haven’t really walked away from an episode feeling anything other than annoyed this entire season. But, wow, this episode was great. I really felt for Morgan and understood what he was doing and why.
It was a bit on an oddball episode. I don’t really like how Rick just took a day off from prison defense. I don’t see how it’s safe to assume the looming attack will take a while. In fact, I could pick apart a lot in this episode, but I’ll overlook it because it was enjoyable.
(And no, people aren’t supposed to be knocked out for more than a few seconds and I don’t know why a shot to the ribs would knock him out. But maybe he was awake the entire time and waiting to go on the attack and Rick and Michonne didn’t know any better.)
Granted, not much happened in this episode to further the plot, but I wish the whole show was like this one. I wish the group had a different situation every episode, maybe searching for food or a new base, and ran across other characters who they fought/helped/received help from. Some could stick around longer and some episodes could last more than one, but I’m sick of the season long situations.
That’s how the first season was. Rick met Morgan in ep 1, found the group in 2, went back for Meryl in 3, met the Vatos in 4, cleaned up after the attack in 5 then went to the CDC in 6. Lots of things happened and they had a beginning and an end, while the overall plot of the show continued to unfold.
Since then, our group’s practical survival is always glossed over and the situations they are in are always season long drama-fests with characters that are just there to further the drama-fest and aren’t really memorable.
Rick didn’t take a day of from prison defense, there was going to be no prison defense unless they got more guns.
