I saw his leg and foot, cooking on a piece of wire fence, over the fire. It was cut off, definitely.
Yes, it must have been one of the people he locked out.
You can do it in a few minutes if you have the parts. If you have to make the parts, it would be more problematic.
I asked one question. You answered an entirely different one.
With how squishy the heads are, now I’m thinking that they missed a real opportunity for Carl. The perfect weapon for him would be a wrist rocket.
And ball bearings or round sinkers. Bait shops and auto parts places for ammo.

I think (spoiler because that might be something from the novels):
that the zombie with the glasses was his wife.
A friend who’s read the novels mentioned this.
Or it could be crap.
I was thinking more “rabbit starvation.”
Why bother? Besides the targeting and ammo-conservation arguments, there are (or should be) full-auto all the way up to 50’s just laying around.
Or Glenn could sit on the unopened cases of them while carving a sword out of a rotten tree limb.
The drum magazines are infamously troublesome even with “square” .45 rounds. Unless it has some hella 21st century engineering, flared .22s are going to be even less reliable.
I have a .22 Ruger than manages to jam often. A friend of mine reflected that “The .22 LR was never intended to be used in a semi automatic pistol”, although they do well for me in rifles.
Is it a Mk. II pistol? What brand of ammunition do you use?
Ruger Mk. II pistols have (according to the guy at Ruger I talked to over a decade ago) a ‘target’ chamber, which is tighter than what they use in their rifles and what other makers use in their guns. My Mk. II jams a lot, but the 10/22s never do. I have been advised to not use Remington ammunition. I have a box of Winchester, but I haven’t been shooting in a few years to test it out.
It’s a 45/22. I haven’t found any difference in ammo, and I use Walmart’s Finest. ![]()
You might try a different brand of ammunition. I’ve heard Winchester is good in Ruger pistols. I have some Winchester (I think) in a 555-round box. It has a bit ‘555’ on it, anyway.
.
Now that I am home, I bought Federal at WalMart, and CCI mini mags that the guy at the gun shop recommended. I’ll try Winchester, thanks!
Swords are great and all, but require some skill. I’d honestly think an ax would be a better choice unless you actually have some training. Not like a battleaxe or anything, just like a regular wood or fire ax, and those should be a lot easier to find than swords.
After axes, well really anything with some heft to it. Baseball bats, shovels, etc. All better than guns most of the time. Still, better keep a pistol handy in case one manages to tackle you. Hard to swing something while you’re wrestling for your life with a zomber, but you might be able to get a shot off if you can reach the gun.
Someone on Talking Dead asked who’d win in a race between Herschel and Bob. I was disappointed that none of the guests (or Hardwick) said that Herschel would come out **ahead.
Interesting. Thanks for the link. I had never heard of Rabbit Starvation until now.
No way!
Yes, that was very subtle.
No that I’m at home, the ‘555’ ammo is Winchester. I haven’t tried it yet. Haven’t been shooting since the SO moved in. When I was having trouble feeding the Remington, I was advised to use Winchester; specifically the kind sold at Wal-Mart in 555-round boxes. Since I almost never go to Wal-Mart, I put it off for a while. Then Obama was going to take all of our guns and then give us Ebola, and you couldn’t find any common calibers. I wish I could give you a user report.
Haven’t read the whole thread yet so not sure if it’s been mentioned, but somebody posted a screenshot of Bob’s severed foot on the BBQ to Imgur that showed what looked like teeth marks on it.
My thinking was that first and foremost, I’d want a piercing weapon. So if no sword is available, the suggestion upthread about a piece of sharpened rebar would be ideal. I would ideally prefer it to be a straight weapon, as opposed to a curved katana, specifically for the piercing effect.
The slashing component, for hacking away zombie limbs in a pinch, would be a secondary consideration. But still a consideration, which is why I think a piercing sword with a sharpened edge would be the perfect weapon.
An axe would be good, but without the functionality of a piercing weapon it would be less effective in close quarters. Or through a chain link fence.
Something like this would be my zombie-killing wet dream, though it might be just a touch too long. Short enough to be stored in a scabbard on my hip or back for travel would also be a high priority.
