The Walking Dead; 5.14 "Spend" (open spoilers)

I never thought of this.

What’s trippy is that I thought the whole Pete situation had a David Lynch feel to it while watching this episode, only to find out his daughter directed it.

Absolutely loved the the Revolving Door of Death concept. Brilliant. But… when you’re in a warehouse and you’ve found what you’re looking for, you grab the fucking box and get the fuck out of there. You don’t sit there pulling out each module and admire it. Sorry, but I’m just tired of stupid “caught in a building by Zombies” scenes where they don’t just stay on task and get shit done.

::hearty applause::

I thought it was more than a little disingenuous to have Deanna concerned about Abraham running the construction site because another one of the group would be in a position of power. She handed out the jobs and was thrilled to make two of them “the law”. And that was after observing the group and knowing exactly how feral they have become.

It was just wax paper. He was going to fix the partially torn page - but PTSD or something caused him to snap and tear the pages out.
On a different note - can the audio guys really not afford another motorcycle sound? Both of Daryl’s bikes have the same exact sound - that of a V-twin engine. His his first bike was a parallel twin and his new bike is an inline 4.

I’d imagine that Janeway is smart enough to recognize that Gabriel is insane and that’ll set up the conflict. Maggie will think she’s heard something that could cause them to be ousted, but in reality, Janeway’s just dismissed his “revelation” out of hand and isn’t planning to do anything.

I agree that the kid is trying to make nice to Carol because he’s hoping that by ingratiating himself with her might save him from abusive!dad.

Don’t know how mom’s going to take it when the hunter/gatherers come back minus her son.

StG

I bet the abusive husband ends up saving Tara’s life.

I don’t know. My first thoughts were: If the kid wrecked mom’s sculpture, then maybe Mom is the abuser!

Tangent: Agree that your template is brilliant. Great job!!

I loved this episode - lots of gory zombie action along with plenty of plot twists.

I’m starting to think Deanna had Team Grimes come in because she knew Rick’s group would strengthen them and help solidify their future.

I’m sort of thinking the same thing. The dad as abuser is a little too obvious.

What the heck did the people of Cleveland ever do to the writers? “Sending a fax to Cleveland”? Now that’s a euphemism that should gin up some hate mail (butt only from Cleveland).

Daryl gets a new scooter. Yay! Of course, it’s too loud for the clandestine operation he’s been charged with. Maybe he’s deaf from all the gunfire?

Everybody Ate Chris. Classic.

Abe has a new mission. Getting the cobwebs outta everyone’s ass, and building a wall. Plus, he gets to kill walkers. Good times.

Deanne, and the other Alexandria leaders, need to (will be?) change their “policy” about dealing with attacks by walkers. “Always fall back” is no longer an option. Even the former construction foreman favors Rick’s groups method.

Tara needs Dr. Pete’s medical skills. So does everyone else. Killing Pete is not an option. If there is an abuse problem in the Anderson family (Jessie, Pete, Ron, and Sam), the abuser(s) can be separated from the others. But that’s just my opinion.

Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel. He is a coward of the highest order. I can’t imagine how actor Seth Gilliam can even pretend to be this guy. (It’s a credit to his acting ability.) Gabriel could/maybe/might fit in to Alexandria, except for the possibility that someone in Rick’s group will rat him out. It makes sense that Gabriel would try to remove all traces of his past.

But how will Deanne react? She’s actually seen Rick’s group in action, and she’s heard good things from other, trusted, members of Alexandria. What has Gabriel actually done for Alexandria?

A short term fix would have been for Maggie to confront Gabriel while he was talking to Deanne. Gabriel would have folded. But then there would have been no cliff-hanger for next week.

That is what I was thinking.

Everywhere I posted about Aiden and his brother- apparently Nicholas was his friend. In your mind, fix that. Thanks.

:smack:

I thought I’d heard every euphemism for dropping a deuce, but that was a new one for me.

You’re hired!

I am so using this.

Also “dolphin smooth”, which has my vote for being descriptive and slightly disturbing (I mean, look at the guy!)

Gabriel’s crime was locking the church doors to save himself, and thereby sacrificing the townsfolk. This is perfectly acceptable to an Alexandrian.

I wonder if Aaron likes to get away from town because he doesn’t like his neighbors much. Think there’s a chance he’ll survive whatever is going to happen, and join Rick’s group?

Actually, I thought was very astute of her as a leader. It’s one thing to integrate Rick’s group into leadership roles, but it’s quite another to give all of the leadership roles to Rick’s group. And now she pretty much HAS to make Glen the leader of the Scavenger Hunt Crew.

Aaron’s walk-about skill set would be a welcome addition to Rick’s group. He can shoot, trail, scavenge, hunt, cook, your don’t have to share your applesauce with him, he has basic vehicle/weapons maintenance skills, and he can do impressions.

His only downside seems to be that he continues to talk after Daryl tells him to be quiet, and continues to babble nonsense after Rick tells him to answer his questions.

LOL. I remember he & Daryl out in the woods and he would. not. shut. up. It speaks highly of Aaron that Daryl didn’t tell him to STFU. I was amazed.

You do realize you are talking about the Walking Dead right?

Over all a pretty good episode, aside from the usual stupid ass shit anyone with a 10th of a functioning brain would have figured out after 2+ years of this nonsense. (in a building with trapped and easy to kill walkers and absolutely your ENTIRE LIFE LEFT to get the shit you came for, whatever you do dont kill them while they are still trapped.)
