Eonid is not one of the wolves - they pretty clearly showed her path from lone survivor to resident - doubtful she took judith, and she felt the only way to survive was to not do what they were doing there.
“just survive somehow”
She’d been leaving “JSS” all over the place - now we know what it meant.
her ‘we…’ was likely going to attempt to take carl out of the compound and go off together - which would have been interersting except for listeing to rick yell ‘carl’ for the next 3 episodes.
I have no idea, either!
Perhaps they could’ve found some “lagoon” somewhere that was safe and they could get acquainted with each other.
I agree that Enid is not a Wolf. She’s a lost and traumatized teenager. Frankly, I find her character completely uninteresting except as a love interest for Carrrrrrl.
I’m already looking forward to TWD season 16, when Rick is killed and Carl takes up the role of leader.
Once again, Carl did NOT stay in the house.
And I’d think if Enid took Judith, we’d have found out about it in this episode, as opposed to a surprise next episode. Why would she have taken a baby with her?
Talking Dead reports that the Wolves attack took place in sorta kinda real time: 45 minutes from the time Carol set the timer and saw Smoker Lady get kilt to the removal of the casserole from the oven in sorrow. Neat bookends, there.
One of the themes of TWD involves becoming a monster to survive, sure. But a more common and more usually successful strategy is cooperation. I’d think people would start developing tribal culture (which Rick’s group largely has) and trade with other groups. Then again, it’s not like this would make great television, and given the way some people behave right NOW at the grocery store and in movie theaters, I’d have no trouble believing that some folks would form feral tribes and attack and kill other people for fun and profit.
I do sort of wonder about the Wolves, though. They seem to have a thing for dismemberment and some very savage behavior, judging from how they seem to like chopping arms and legs off… to the point where they gleefully hack on corpses with time that’d be better spent running around and looting. And that short speech that one guy gave about, “You don’t belong here,” and Morgan’s friend’s speech last season before Morgan stuffed 'em in that car and walked off… makes me really wonder about their thinking and ideology, and whether we ever get any kind of explanation of it. Is this just a buncha feral people, or is there a cult thing happening?
I notice they also seem to have lost a LOT of Wolves in their attack, for apparently very little gain; the few we do see escape don’t seem to have gotten away with much more than a gun, which will no doubt become a Chekov’s Gun which will be used to kill a beloved main character at the midseason break or something, because Morgan allowed it to happen instead of killing everyone…
Thing is, I rather like it. We now have several viewpoint characters whose attitude about killing and humanity is quite variable:
RICK: Veers from Sheriff to Ricktator to Farmer to Ricktator…
MORGAN: You don’t have to kill. Except maybe when you show mercy, and then the scumbag attacks your town and kills a buncha people who’d still be alive if you had.
GLENN: When your enemy tries to murder you, maybe you can redeem him by simply beating the crap out of him, but then not killing him.
CAROL: Be cold and calculating. Get the drop on your opponent, and then ruthlessly murder him first. Cry about it afterwards if you must, but ruthlessly murder the other guy first.
CARL: Never, never, never stay in the house.
It’s an ensemble show, so not everyone is going to get a shiny moment in every episode, but they really seem to be trying to make it work. Although in comparison to Fear The Walking Dead, I find myself really wondering what the FTWD writers and showrunners were thinking… great lameness, leading up to a very strong TWD beginning!
On Talking Dead, the host opined that it would have been cool if the dead Doctor’s wife (hair cut lady) had, after killing the Wolf with those scissors, looked at her son as he walked into the room and said: Are you ready for that haircut NOW!!!
I thought this was a great episode.
I do have a question regarding Morgan (it’s been bugging me for a few months):
Last season on the post episode Coda’s, we saw a few times Morgan following “markers” carved into tree’s. Eventually leading to the church. Did we ever find out who was leaving those carvings?

Where is Enid going to GO? that’s what I’m wondering.
I am not impressed with Haircut Lady’s idiot teenage son, but I do understand why he’s doing what he’s doing; it’s typical teenage weltschmerz, in the middle of the zombie apocalypse.
It did make me wonder what I’d do if I had a rotten day, had a fight with mom over my dad’s murder, the girl I wanted was over at my rival’s house, and I got home to find Mom stabbing someone to death in the kitchen…

It looked to me like one of the Wolves (a non-zombie human) was driving the truck and planned on ramming the gate or wall. The Alexandrian in the tower shot several rounds into the truck, killing the driver. The truck then veered off its course and hit the wall at the bottom of the tower, and the now-dead driver’s body incidentally flipped the switch for the horn. When the guy from the tower finally makes it down to the truck and opens the door, the dead driver has reanimated.
Enid said “This place is impossible to defend, there are too many blindspots. That’s how we…” how can that be finished by anything besides “got in”? and she came to Carl to say goodbye, she was obviously leaving with the wolves.
I don’t think so. The look between her and dude Carl saved, who wouldn’t come in, (dead Doctors son), tells a different story.
It started off meh with all the teenage angst but then it got exciting. Carol is pretty bad-ass so I think we need to add her to the “if _____ dies we riot” list.
I like Morgan but he really needs to get over the “all life is precious” when that other life is trying to murder you and everyone else then it’s not so precious. However, I do not blame Morgan for the attack because he let those two wolves go. They seemed surprised to see him, I think it was Aaron (?) who brought the wolves because he lost his bag with those pictures. Of course the ones he let go this time will probably come back to bite him and others on the ass.
I have a question, what was the A on the porch when Carol sat done to contemplate a smoke? Is it the symbol for anarchy and who put it there?
Next week we see if they managed to shut off the horn in time to be able to divert the herd back on the route they were on. If not they may be in for some worse times.
“That’s how we…” were able to come and go from Alexandria as we pleased last season, by climbing over the wall?
Remember that she and Carl have previously exited and entered the town on the sly. It’s possible that is what she was referring to.
Wasn’t it the same ‘A’ that Jessie’s younger son was stamping on people last season? I remember Rick had a red ‘A’ stamped on his hand at one point. ‘A’ for Alexandria, they explained, though given Rick’s advances on Jessie later at the party it was hard not to miss the ‘Scarlet Letter’ symbolism. And at the beginning of this episode that boy was sitting on the steps of the house that Carol, Carl, and Rick are living in. Is that where Carol ended up when she saw the ‘A’ or was it a different house?
I believe (no proof, just a theory) that all the houses are stamped with that A symbol, as part of the community of Alexandria. So the one house where Wolf Carol sees the A symbol was a just a reminder of where she was and what she was defending; a stark contrast compared to the W symbol on her forehead.
I am pondering the possibility that Enid and Knit Cap Boy were talking about leaving Alexandria and running away together. She, because she thinks the place can’t hold, and he because Rick is becoming a mover and shaker, and he hates Rick for killing his father.
Now he thinks Carl and Enid are a thing, and his next logical step is to go try and join the Wolves and tell them everything he knows about Alexandria.
I hope this does not happen. It’s old, and it’s been done before, and it’s just lame.
I called it “The Walking Dead: The Next Generation”
I would not be surprised if Carol (or Carl) kills Morgan this season if he (Morgan) doesn’t lose the “all life is precious” crap. Every last one of those Wolves needed to die, and he let some go, with a gun. If he wants to stay with this group, and be protected by them, he needs to live by their code. Otherwise, he can take his Master Po stick and head out by himself.
