The Walking Dead; 6.14 "Twice as Far" (open spoilers)

Exactly. And once you wonder off, away from the group, you are good as dead. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

The show is getting bit too predictable. Did anyone not expect Abraham to come to the rescue? How convenient that he was the only one missing from the group captured by Face-Burn-Guy and his group.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still loving the show overall. These last two episodes left me rather cold, though.

Face-Burn-Guy stole Daryl’s bike, did he not?

Yes, and the crossbow.

Thanks.
He seems to have moved up in the Negan organization.

I know they all kept saying she’s the towns only doctor and must be protected, but I can see her point. She was the only one who had never been out, she had none of the experience or skills required to survive. She was entirely dependent on the protection of Alexandria’s walls, so if that was taken away and they were forced to flee, she would be doomed. If the arrow hadn’t gotten her this week, a pop-up stealth zombie would have eventually.

There should be a strict protocol on who goes out and when. It gets cleared with Rick (or the general populace in a Town Hall meeting), and everyone knows where you are going and when you should be back. Back-up is sent and ready to rescue if needed.

There is one leader in charge of the excursion group, and everyone does what he or she says. No dilly-dallying, and no arguments.

This is not rocket science.

I don’t understand why a “newbie” like the “doctor” would just walk away from the two experienced zombie-killers. Also, Eugene seems to have an exaggerated sense of “badassery” about his until-recently-mulleted self, to the point of “firing” Abraham. The people on this show are a special kind of stupid. But at least they’re entertaining!

She’s an MD, but practiced as a psychiatrist. So she went through med school and rotations like any doc.

What are “rotations”, residency?

I got the impression that Eugene had been in the factory before and already had the plan to make ammo there. But I’m not sure how that could be unless he discovered it while there with someone other than Abraham.

I wonder how you can pour molten metal on a zombie’s head without boiling the brain and killing the zombie?

I wonder what kind of Savior leader captures an escapee and then puts him in charge of a raiding party?

And in particular, I wonder what kind of an organization has as standard procedure, “When you capture people, kill one RIGHT OFF, to show you mean business.” Seems to me that would tend to backfire… but, then, no one said Negan has to be sane.

Burned face guy was going to buy his way back into their good graces with Daryl’s motorcycle, which i assume he did since someone else had it.

In med school you’d spend time working in most of the major hospital departments. That is often during your third and fourth year, though some schools are starting it sooner. Some residency programs still have you do a rotation year prior to beginning your specialization focus, but that will vary by program.

I don’t remember if it was actually explained, but the way he was looking around made me think he had traveled there to inspect it to see if it would be suitable for what he was planning (ie, it didn’t look like he had been inside before, at least). I assumed he had either noticed some kind of factory/foundry building from the outside on a previous run, or saw it on a map, and went to check it out to see if it was appropriate/intact enough to use.

Abe left before Eugene did. It’s reasonable to surmise that Abe, a trained soldier, saw the enemy and took cover and then kept them under surveillance. The raiders either caught Eugene in the shop, or else Eugene blundered into them as he is wont to do. Maybe it’s ‘convenient’ Abe was not captured, but it’s not unrealistic.

He didn’t have a burned face before, did he? Maybe that was his punishment for running off, like the girl last week who lost a finger for stealing gas. It sounds like Negan has a policy of punish and reinstate.

Seemed clear to me as well.

I think they drowned the baby to quiet it based on the huge number of zombie claw marks on the front door and wall. The way I see it, a couple zombies are after them, they seek shelter in the store, but the baby won’t stop crying. More and more zombies show up to get that yummy-nummy baby brain so eventually they had to make it stop by any means necessary.

PLus the cast on the zombies leg made it clear they weren’t able to run or fight their way out.

Agreed, and I didn’t mean to say it was unrealistic. Only that, from a plot standpoint, you have him in reserve to come back and “save the day”. A plot device that is being used over and over again by the writers to the point that I expected Abe to show up and save the day.

I disagree that the first two acts were filler. snyThey were necessary setup for Denise’s death, Eugene’s desperate badassery, Daryl’s acknowledgement of his mistake in letting Dwight live, and Carol’s crisis. None of those would have worked without the setup. About the only thing that could have been omitted was the bit between Rosita and Spencer (with only one S, unlike the detective) and even that helped make Denise’s telling-off of Rosita work.

“I’m gonna prove I have what it takes to survive even if it kills me!”
