Lies? You mean what we’re seeing isn’t real?
Hobgoblins, small minds, inconsistencies and all that.
Minor goofs are forgivable. Adding dialog to a scene we’ve already seen is not
At least, amid all that bleakness, one mystery from “before” has been solved.
Glenn’s favorite fast-food joint has been revealed.
It’s…
POPEYE’S!!!
I like Daryl, and I’ve gotten to like Corrrrrl. Mullet-guy has his moments.
They do need to drum up a few more sympathetic characters to replace they ones they keep killing off, though. Maybe Negan’s group will have a gem or two.
Yeah, but for Christ’s sake, *wash your hair.

Seriously, I feel like I can smell him through my TV. Everyone’s living in the lap of luxury in Alexandria, and Daryl’s still got seven months of zombie guts behind his ears.
And he shows up for Talking Dead looking like that. That guy is Method.
I’m about 75% certain he was drunk on Talking Dead. I’ve not watched the Talking Dead enough, maybe that is how he always looks/sounds. Or maybe he is always drunk. Haha
I think Michael Whatsisname (Abe) was pretty toasted too.
This is what I have been feeling but couldn’t put so eloquently, even to myself. I decided in the off season that I was going to drop the show. Mainly, their bragging about how things were going to go horribly worse for our gang had no appeal to me. I’ve had enough of that. I simply have no interest in this plot line any more.
I didn’t think about why but you hit it. I want to see the rebuilding part. It’s the point in the story, if it’s indeed a story driven show, to move on and this show is doubling down.
I love zombie shows but like others have said, this isn’t a zombie show so the fact that it has zombies isn’t enough either.
I watched the first episode last night to close out the story for me so I could see the fate of the characters. It didn’t compel me to keep watching.
I think it was well written, did what it came to do and did it well but that’s not the entertainment I am looking for. I’m happy with my decision.
For those who are hanging on, have fun. It looks like you’re about to be going on a wild ride. Enjoy it. I know I did. All six seasons worth.
Wait. You are telling me you want a zombie show where people build stuff and are peaceful?!? Maybe Negan’s imposition of order will be the catalyst to get society going again. 50% taxes for a functioning society in zombie land doesn’t seem that horrible.
Negan’s imposition of order has already created a functioning, stable society that is orders of magnitude more established than anything we’ve seen so far. It dwarfs Alexandria, Terminus, Woodbury and that hospital where Beth died combined.
Last season we saw regular working stiffs from Negan’s society have clearly established protocols and fallback plans during the episode where Alicia Witt captured Maggie and Carol. We saw a minor satellite outpost with almost as big of a population as Alexandria. We saw Rick’s group kill upwards of 50 of Negan’s people (I maintained a running tally in last season’s threads, but I forget the final tally) and it didn’t even make a dent in their ability to organize and respond.
Even after those 50 casualties, there were probably a hundred or more people that captured Rick’s group, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were still a bunch of others left behind to mind their various settlements.
Negan has already successfully created a fully functioning society; by far the best chance for humankind to survive as we’ve seen so far on the show. Of course, we haven’t yet seen the group of people that Carol and Morgan met in last year’s finale, so it remains to be seen if Negan’s society is the society of the new world. But as of right now, Negan’s group is absolutely the gold standard in this post-apocalyptic world.
The only thing that doesn’t make any sense is why the Wolves were allowed to exist at all. I would think Negan’s group would have wiped them off the face of the earth long ago.
And Hitler made the trains run on time. :dubious:
Actually, the thing that makes the least amount of sense to me is that Negan’s group never found and subjugated Alexandria long before Rick’s people showed up. Those people wouldn’t have put up much of a fight, and they had plenty of stuff for Negan to take.
That was Mussolini.
He didn’t, really. But he took credit for the (pre-war) improvements, and sold the propaganda really well.
How does this “Half your shit” work?
They give him half of everything they possess to start with. Next time, do they give him half of everything they own, or half of what they made since the last visit?
Their respective areas of influence haven’t overlapped until now. That’s why the Saviours (Negan’s group) hadn’t already taken over Alexandria, too. Let’s say that the Saviours have been operating to the north of Alexandria and the Wolves to the south. Doesn’t need fanwanking to come up with a plausible scenario. As the Saviours’ territory expands, they encounter new groups.
I think it’s 50% of any crops they grow, stuff they scavenge, material goods produced etc. I imagine Negan has some form of corvée imposed on his subjects as well.
Wait. You are telling me that blue M&M’s cause cancer? I never knew that.
What I’m saying is that the Walking Dead currently is not delivering a story I’m interested in watching this season so I’m not watching it. I’m not knocking it or anyone who is still watching.
I don’t mind watching protagonists having a hard time but I want a payoff for their suffering and I don’t think Walking Dead intends to go there. The only progress in 6 seasons has been made by the evilness and strength of their enemy. Meanwhile the protagonists dwindle and are replaced by less interesting protagonists who will die before we get to know them.
That said, I found the episode was done well and I have no doubts that for those who are interested in this storyline will truly enjoy it. I’m going to skip it for now. To each his own.
I can’t comment on what I want to watch. I don’t want the show to be any specific thing I just don’t want to watch a show about this specific thing. If a show wants me to watch the onus of coming up with interesting stories to watch is on them not me. My job is to watch it or not.
Just wanted to make that clear while you build straw men out of my posts. Now,go get em tiger. There’s straw men to kill.
In the post I quoted you mentioned wanting to see the group move on to a rebuilding phase. That’s what I commented on. Where’s the strawman?
